I spent 16 days across Honshu in February, I'd like to visit Hokkaido next. I know enough about myself and Japan that I enjoy smaller towns and the countryside more than I do getting slammed by other tourists in Osaka and Tokyo. Don't sleep on Hiroshima though, very laid back and you must visit that famous water gate shrine island, I recommend the fast ferry from Peace Park.
