Excellent video. You can also mix up the slice serve by hitting the top right of the ball aka 1 o’clock or hitting the right side of the ball aka 3 o’clock to impart different slice spin effect.

Watched a short video the other day, Andre Aggassis likes his slice starting from the 4 o'clock position and he stresses hitting up into the 4 o'clock slice serve. Kinda blows my mind on the swing path...

@@Richibald1 Maybe worked for Agassi but as recreational player, no way I can hit a 4 o’clock slice serve and land it in. I’ll try it tomorrow to see what happens, my prediction is I’ll hit it deep or into net.

@@topspin1715 ok lmk I'd be interested to hear how it works. I'm on the WET coast, no indoors here so forced to wait it out pretty much. The key don't forget he's hitting UP* into the 4 o'clock position. Freaky physics I agree!

Are you using the same grip for each kind of serve (top or kick). What is that grip Steve, Continental or a slight variation on Eastern grip for the kick serve please. Also curious if you have a racquet or string preference for the kick serve Coach. Your prediction is spot on. I have a much easier time with topspin so tend to rotate slightly (one bevel) towards an Eastern Grip. This gives me more purchase on the ball tending to send it higher and wider to a righty's backhand. This makes my doubles partner's job much easier at the net. As a rule! 🙂

Does he mix up kickserve with slice serve? I thought kickserve is a topspin ….
@topspin1715 Жыл бұрын
No he means mixing up just the kick serve with one spin being purely topspin (6 to 12 o’clock) so the ball just bounces up high and then 7-730 to 1-130 o’clock which will bounce up and away. The idea is to throw off opponent even if they know you’re going to use kick serve they won’t be able to tell what kind of spin the ball will have in advance.
