Honestly I can tell you a few reasons, bland character designs, (minus a few exceptions) bland stages, lack of modes, lack of combo freedom, silence from the dev team, and terrible gameplay. It’s like they tried copying Granblue’s gameplay but dumbed it down even more, I wasn’t a big fan of Granblue either but it won me over and at least I can use it to satiate my Soul Calibur thirst.

A WHIFF is basically a swing that misses. Used for baseball, golf, fighting games, etc. (term origin-wise it refers to the gust of wind from a missed swing; like say, a missed punch). That said, In fighting game lingo, WHIFF is an is important term/situation because if you attack (swing) and miss, you still have recovery frames, but you did not hit your opponent so they have neither hit stun nor block stun, meaning they have MORE time to react to your missed attack (in most cases). WHIFF PUNISH is when you hit an opponent while they are recovering from a whiffed attack. Tekken 8 will even show you if you punish an attack. Which is SPECIFICALLY when you hit someone while they are still recovering from their move. (A whiff punish is a type of punish. The game will say "PUNISH". You will know if it is a whiff punish based on whether the attack connected or not.)

Japan has quite a progressive take on Catholicism! (ok I did some reading and read Mario’s “allegedly” older than 14, but he’s still a pRIEST??!) Ok, comments aside - I tried him and Ghost in the Shell Ciel and ADORE their styles and animations! Barely know the game on a technical level but its something I like playing to dick around it, haha. Little note: A combo is generally referring to consecutive inputs that juggles the opponent in air. When performing 2 to 5 hits consecutively without true juggle, it is called a string, not a combo 🤓☝️

The move list coupled with the reactions I got from other players...starting with very negative reactions was my first big experience.. The notation didn't help as it had nearly nothing to do with Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat notation (My first 2 non Smash bros fighting games)...and I'm still struggling to figure out it all intuitively. The strong incentive to specialize into only one or two characters is also something that is strong in this game that I am not entirely familiar with as well.

This is legit a 2 for 1 deal since Reina is my number 1 character in Tekken 8 (I am trying to learn King and a couple others its not going great)...researching such stuff because I want to both maintain Warrior and seek Vanquisher I don't feel like I can truly do this without elevating my technique. This seems to be part of the missing piece the other will be for me to research Reina techniques further and of course grinding there is no substitute in the end for grinding.
