Understanding and Installing bead locks on Fords Bronco, Raptor and BRaptor beadlock capable wheels

I love that ford offers these wheels on their serious off road vehicles.

Except the bronco raptor on a serious trail that it's capable of doing they break at the knuckle for the steering. Ford knows its an issue on the bronco and they've chosen not to fix it. Which makes them not a serious off road vehicle without a ton of aftermarket parts thrown at them and for the price it shouldn't be needed.

This is pretty awesome considering most aftermarket beadlock wheels are pretty damn heavy. These being stock wheels are pretty light weight all things considered

Agreed, especially if you opt for the forged bead lock capable wheels (which the ones on the our Raptor are).

Do you know what the width of the vehicle is when you use the bead lock obviously it gets a little wider? Also will be 37 x 13 50 wide tire clear using the stock bead lock wheels I don’t know if there’s the proper pack spacing to run that wide of a tire?

Great video! I am a little disappointed that you didn't give us a nice side shot of the finished product on the Braptor. I have a 37 Package Raptor with the same wheel package. and am considering the rings. Can't seem to find any good shots of the finished install.

If you remove the beauty ring to be painted or powder coated, then reinstall it, does the wheel need to be balanced again or would it be fine? Same question if you add the beadlock ring do you balance the wheel again?

Great vid i knew what beadlocks were but couldn't understand how something could be beadlock capable. Know , being how beadlock wheels are not legal for street use in most states i think its kind of a stupid option that ford put on. Seems like alot of work for a afternoon of fourwheeling. I like the Ford beadlocks but……$1,000 for 5 metal rings and a bag of bolts?!?!?!?!? OUCH! That’s a pretty big “Bronco Tax”. Those things should cost like $100 each.

It definitely does, buy moving the outer bead out approximately an inch, it moves the tread of the tires about 1/2” farther out.

I wish I saw this video a few days earlier I made a fool out of myself when I took my bronco to tire shop for a flat tire I told the guy I had bead lock wheels if he had experience with that type of wheel then it tuned out they are just a beauty ring on them smh

Bead locks allow you to drastically reduce the air pressure in your tires without the bead coming off and letting the remaining air out of your tires. Low tire pressure increases the contact area your tire with the ground which really helps with traction in off road situations.

@@4x4ranch Especially with 37s. Dropping to 10-15 psi on my wildtrak gives me a hilarious amount of traction and rid comfort in really rough terrain.
