This episode sheds light on complex financial concepts such as inflation, deflation, and disinflation, and how understanding these can be advantageous.
In this episode of Rich Dad's Stockcast Andy Tanner, alongside co-host Greg, unpacks the paradox of finding financial opportunities amidst economic turmoil like inflation. They dissect how individuals, often referred to as the "little guys," can navigate and thrive in these challenging circumstances by leveraging the right knowledge and strategies.
Andy and Greg emphasize the significance of adopting a mindset focused on acquiring assets and generating cash flow, rather than succumbing to the fears that typically accompany economic downturns. The conversation is deeply rooted in the Rich Dad philosophy, advocating for the power of financial education as the cornerstone of wealth-building. The hosts argue that, with the correct leverage and insight, anyone can turn their financial situation around, even in the face of adversity.
The episode is not just about identifying problems but offers a beacon of hope by highlighting actionable strategies that listeners can apply to safeguard and grow their wealth. It's a testament to the Rich Dad commitment to empowering individuals through knowledge, encouraging them to see beyond the immediate threats to the underlying opportunities.
Listeners will walk away with a renewed perspective on how to approach their finances, especially in unstable economic conditions. By focusing on education and strategic investment, the episode suggests that overcoming financial challenges is not only possible but can also be a path to financial freedom.

When Andy was talking about the affects of inflation, he kept saying, "The value of goes up." I would disagree with this assessment. The price goes up. The value stays the same. Since he included a house and gold as two of the assets in the list, I'll use those as an example. If an ounce of gold costs $2000, and the house costs $200,000, then 100oz of gold and the house are of equivalent value. If the price of the gold goes to $3000 and the house to $300,000, the value of the assets hasn't changed, they're still 100oz gold to 1 house. The only value that has changed is that of the dollar, whose value has gone down by 50%. As a side effect, the value of any debt has also decreased, which is good for borrowers, but to say that the assets have gone up in value is, I think, looking at it backwards.

"The American people have no idea they are paying the bill. They know that someone is stealing their hubcaps, but they think it is the greedy businessman who raises prices or the selfish laborer who demands higher wages or the unworthy farmer who demands too much for his crop or the wealthy foreigner who bids up our prices. They do not realize that these groups also are victimized by a monetary system which is constantly being eroded in value by and through the Federal Reserve System." ~ G. Edward Griffin

In my opinion: Inflation means consumer keeps their money due to high interest rate, less investor spending, less company capital, less supply chain production, higher the price of goods. Deflation means consumer spends a lot including uneccesary items, lowering interest rates, investors spends on capital, more supply chain, lower the price of goods.

The VALUE of an asset does not go UP with inflation .... unless price deflation of that asset class happens just after you sell the asset. ( True value is measured by purchasing power of the cash it provides ) Example : I purchase a rental property for $200,000 with rent cashflow of $350/week ...... if Ten years later the property is worth $500,000 with rent cashflow of $600/week......it also means the groceries, fuel, insurance, price of a new vehicle, other property of similar class ect....has also increased by that same percentage thus the true VALUE ( Purchasing power ) has not increased. If I then sell that property for $ 500,000 ...... what other property can I buy for that cash that is going to be of better value ? ( unless I just happen to find a very rare deal ) At best I can generally only buy another property that is of lower value but has potential to value add..... or .....buy another property of the same value with similar cashflow..... thus I have only exchanged one asset for another of the same value. Really all I have done by purchasing the property is purchased an asset that is a STORE OF VALUE thus is a hedge against inflation eating up the purchasing power of the cash I used to buy it.....plus it can also be used to create a small business ( renting ) that creates a small, hopefuly positive passive cashflow income. If I keep doing this over and over.....Hopefully I can eventually creat enough small businesses ( rentals ) to create enough passive cashflow to become financialy free. ( what Robert did by purchasing rental properties during a massive deflationary period )

While options are great if you spread trade, buying long is a less than 40% chance of making money and they have an expiration date. If you own the stocks there is no loss to theta (time) and no expiration. You’re better off to buy like a SOFI and sell covered calls.
