This is the best video I’ve seen on KZbin. Outlined very well. Thanks!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I have been scouring KZbin for a simple but thorough explanation and THIS IS IT! You have saved me so much prep time as I put together a lesson for my charter school students.

Thank you! Just watched this and even though it was recorded in 2012 - it's still just as valid today.

Michael, you are an excellent instructor. I broadly understood the concept of syllogisms but the Middle, Major and Minor terms always confused me. I could find them but more from a 'feel' for them. You showed a nice, simple method to get there with certainty. I watched several other videos, by other people, and whilst they got to the right answer it was hard to know how! Thank you for posting.

Thank you so very much for your videos. They are very clear and understandable. You have helped me a great deal. Your volunteerism of teaching here on KZbin is very noble. You should get an award. :)

OK, this is great! Thanks so much. And definitely, I concur with +Charlie Matur, you sure explained this ten times better than my professor!!! I've been trying to understand major, middle and minor terms for weeks.

I wish I had seen this last week when I started this whole topic. Trying to learn online at DeVry and you did an amazing job of summarizing 3 chapters of reading that I had to struggle with. Well done thanks!!

Great explanations professor Curran, as an FYI for future references, the Sphynx (also known as the Canadian Sphynx) is a hairless variety of cat... but I think your argument is still valid... :)

Hi! I am not in your class, I am not a student at Strayer, but THANK YOU professor Curran!!! It helped greatly! You rock the Casbah!!

You cleared this up more than the reading did. I am a student at Columbia College and we use "Western Philosophy: An Anthology" by John Cottingham. This is a really bad book because there is a big lack of explanation. This was definitely a great link provided by the instructor.

First - Thanks for the video! Second - The syllogism you used at 7:30 looks like it commits the fallacy of denying the antecedent. So for that reason alone it is not valid p1) If I owned all the gold in Fort Knox I would be wealthy p2) I do not own all the gold in Fort Knox C) I am not wealthy p1) P > Q p2) - P C) - Q

Next time just say "Structure determines validity , content determines soundness" This is the easiest way to teach these concepts.
