I think most cases of cptsd is misdiagnosed as other things and is vastly under-diagnosed. I’m working on a book about CPTSD being the root cause of PMDD…. Along with the effects that cptsd has on the gray matter in the brain and how that contributes to heightened levels of cortisol (especially in women). Let’s be real Covid was one big CPTSD event for a lot of people.

Really interesting video. Do you have any thoughts on the role of mirror neurons (lack thereof - trauma/neglect induced limited/zero functioning in reading emotional intent) in the feeling of isolation in cptsd? .... errr ... asking for a friend! (cough)

Would learn microexpression here: emotionconnection.com that way you can read the correct emotion to tune in your mirror neuron experience to what another is actually feeling.

Can an individual with complex ptsd have attachment and abandonment issues given the hx of childhood trauma with caregivers? I have both symptoms but all of the providers I have talked to say I have complex ptsd and not a dx of BPD. Just curious. Thank you for considering this question!

@@psychiatrypsychotherapy6939 thank you for sharing. In my opinion I sometimes have a push pull and disorganized attachment style, which seems to be associated with BPD. My providers know this and still dx me with complex ptsd. I find it confusing :/

Sounds like you noticing patterns is more important than a particular diagnosis. There is a good amount of overlap in symptoms between the two. Knowing patterns can help :)

I have a partner who has push/pull tendencies, but only during the ten days prior to her period. This led to the discovery of pmdd. The more I did into my own healing I am realizing I didn’t have adhd, but I had cptsd.
