Great video. I wanted to see if I can run this but madden is so broken. I think this is an amazing coverage irl. This is what the 2019 Patriots used. I’m sure you know this already but the yellow zone is called “rat” irl. They’re supposed to help on inside routes obviously, the corner that is getting help by the rat, is supposed to become the new rat. But madden doesn’t have it coded in lol

It's ok... I'll give my thoughts anyway. Cover 1 robber, at least in my opinion, is still a single high safety defense. Remember, that we are speaking in terms of what the defense will rotate into >post< snap. So a defense can call cover 1 robber , and show a double high safety look pre snap . . . but the instant the ball snaps, one safety will push towards the deep middle of the field, while the other safety will drop down to play his robber responsibility. A team will do this {Show double high pre snap, but rotate into playing cover 1 post snap} as a means of trying to confuse the offense. For instance - - - Let's say the tight end has an option route. He will run a post route over the middle of the field if the defense plays cover 2 . . . But he will run a seam route instead if the defense plays cover 1 or cover 3. The quarterback on his team obviously knows this as well. Well, if one of the two individuals get confused on what the defense is actually running - than you can get an interception, bad throw, a quarterback holding on to the ball and etc. There are multiple reasons on why a team will show double high pre...and atually play single high post...... or the other way around.
