Make sure to check out my Udemy course, where I go more in-depth on the inner workings of college, from how college degrees are structured to how you can make the most of them based off your own personal learning style. College 101: How to Navigate College teaches students about credits, degree plans, how to calculate their GPA, learning styles, how to maximize their degree plans, and more. If I have 12 college credits, how many semester hours would that be? The online college I'm attending, told me they don't go by semester hours. So with that being said, is my 12 college credits just 12 semester hours? I'm asking because I want to apply for this job that requires at least 60 semester hours.

I take 240 UK credit hours for completing AHND, how many hours I need to finish it in fasttrack program or less than 1 year?
@collegeconversations
@collegeconversations 6 ай бұрын
You should ask your academic advisor at your school because I can't answer that specific of a question. My academic experience is in the US, not the UK, so the definition of credit hour may be slightly different.

Yes. Time spent in class only (nothing outside of class) is referred to as “clock hours”

Can you explain 30 credit hours for a 2 years master degree? How is the 30 credit hours splited for a 2 years master degree?
@collegeconversations
@collegeconversations 3 ай бұрын
A 2-year masters degree listed as 30 credits assumes you will be taking five 3-credit courses per year (15 credits) for 2 years, for a total of 30 credits.

Hi how does much 0.5 credit effects on my degree ( my teacher last season gave my 0.5 credit for GLE which i did need it bcz i already had 31 credits and i didn't complete the assignments and my point is 56 doest it effects on my degree? Can i retake it or erase it? Thanks.

You should ask your academic advisor this question. A half credit can still impact your degree technically. You might want to find a way to earn a half credit somehow so that it will total one complete credit. The registrar may or may not round up your total credits when it comes time to calculate your final degree audit.

At 0:56 did you misspeak? "So the three hours of outside classroom work". That doesn't help when someone is trying to understand something.
@collegeconversations
@collegeconversations Жыл бұрын
Hours of outside classroom work could also include working with a tutor to understand the material, meeting with a study group to compare answers or work on an assignment, meeting with the instructor or teaching assistant, or regular homework, reading the textbook, or studying for an exam. Students need to make individual decisions about how to best spend their time learning the material. Some students do learn better in a study group while others will learn better seeking individual help from a tutor.

So if I have 12 college credits right now, does that mean I have 12 semester hours? I want to apply for a job, but they require at least 60 semester hours. Is that the same as credits? Thanks!

So, a 3 credit course means you need to attend this course in class for 3 hours a week for the end of the semester, and you need to study these hours each week for 9 hours, 3 hours each. Do I get it?
@collegeconversations
@collegeconversations 3 ай бұрын
Yes, you need to attend a 3-credit course for 3 hours each week (usually a 50 minute class 3 times a week or a 75 minute class 2 times a week) and then complete 9 hours of related course work, i.e. homework, studying for a quiz, practice sets, group work, studying for a test, etc.

I don't understand, all students have to study for the same amount of time, 9 hours out of the classroom?? I think it is for the average student. Although research shows that on average students don't learn nearly as much
@collegeconversations
@collegeconversations Жыл бұрын
Nine hours of time spent on work for the class outside of time spent in actual class is the guideline. The 9 hours could be homework, studying for a quiz or test, working on a project, working in a lab, reading chapters in a textbook, or any other activity related to learning the material taught in that class. The 9 hours is a guideline for how long it should take the average student to complete the assignments for that week (3 hours per one hour of class time) so 9 hours for a 3 credit course.

It would be 12 hours of work for one class a week, so 12 x 5 classes = 60 hours a week x 15 weeks (length of semester) x 8 semesters = 7200 hours of work for a bachelor's degree

If my bachelor degree is 120 hrs then does it means i have to take it in one year and for each yr i need 4×120=480 hr to get my BS Degree???
@collegeconversations
@collegeconversations 9 ай бұрын
No, a bachelor's degree is typically 120 credit hours in TOTAL, which breaks down to enrolling in 15 credits worth of courses per semester, two semesters per academic year, and staying in college for 4 years. 30 credits per year x 4 years = 120 credits in total
