2:14 The point of minimum drag is where the induced drag EQUALS the parasite drag, please correct this image Induced drag: Square of the span loading, divided by π and q, the so called dynamic pressure Di = (L/b)² / π q q = rho × V²/2. rho density b wing effective span L Lift force V True airspeed Parasite drag Dp = q × wing area × Cd Cd parasite drag coefficient Go ahead and plot both drag curves to get the accurate picture

Vmd is for MAX endurance NOT range, best range is achieved by the minimum penalty between drag and speed. basically, the least amount of drag to exchange the maximum forward speed = slightly more than the Vmd .

Yes. Thank you for the info. I missed this in the script. Min Drag gives Max Endurance and Max Range is achieved a little above Vmd.

Vmd is the speed for maximum RANGE 0.76 × Vmd is the speed for minimum POWER Bréguet range equation R = L/D ÷ sfc × ln(1+Fuel÷Wz) L/D lift to drag ratio maximum at minimum drag speed sfc specific fuel consumption ~ 0.48 lbs per HP-hour. Wz zero fuel weight ln( ) natural log this is valid for a propeller driven airplane, not for a jet

@@JxJAVIATION no sir KC's comment is wrong Max endurance is when the product of TAS and drag force is minimum, happens at 0.76 × Vmd use the formulas and calculate it yourself. There is a difference between a jet airplane and a prop driven airplane Jet : max endurance at ~Vmd Max range for a pure jet , no fanjet. is at 1.73 Vmd
