التحقيق: إثبات المسألة بدليلها. مير سيد الجرجاني In simple terms, a Muhaqqiq is someone who engages in ‘tahqiq’ (investigation) & that is proving the issue with it’s evidence. Kitab al-Ta’rifaat, Mir Sayyid Jurjani (student of Allama Adud-Din al-Iji) I hope that helps!
