I have had MS for 23 years and my body has taken the easy way out my compensating. It takes a lot of time and effort to make things work again. This morning I was able to move my arm out enough to put deodorant on it. It has been a few years since I have been able to do that. It is a small thing. But it encourages me not to give up. Keep on trying, The effort is worth it.

Hi Tara. Thank you for all your video. I am post bilateral carotide disection for 3 and half years now. Believed to have been cause by a massive viral infection that apparently caused spontaneous inflammation. This was early pandemic and left me with a left side paralysis early on and keep on progressing to be constantly better. I get a bit frustrated when hearing from anyone. Specialist. Therapist of physician that if not back within a year . Will not likely return. I totally agree with you that forcing ourselves to use affected side is 100% needed but I think overall. Keep pushing towards the goal of regaining g the ability to do it without compensation is even more important. For what I seen so far with many strokes despite age or background. If we keep pushing regardless of what we are at today and the goal we initially choose. I can't stop realizing progress on affected side year after year. Stuff that I couldn't do 2 years ago. Or even 6 months ago. I get blown away on regular basis on the amazing power of my body to keep on getting better and achieving movement or tasks with less and less compensation. I really think all this progress will never stop as long as I keep working at it. After all we only really fail when we stop trying . My thought anyway😂😂😂😂😂. I do not want to sound like a complainer or negative but I really think stroke patient need to realize it is a long road to recovery but In my case always getting better and definetly not perfect but soo much better. Again thanks for all your teaching video because I am pretty sure for many stroke survivor your are the only rehabilitation they are able to get on a extended periode. For this you are a true savior for many❤❤❤ keep up your good work

Thank you so much for sharing! I'm almost 2 years post and I'm trying to work on forced use now that I've been d/c'd due to hitting a plateau, yet most of the therapists I've seen have tried to get me to fully compensate to be "functional" in life and around my home. Thank you so much for the regular encouragement that helps me to continue to push forward and keep on giving it everything I possibly can! You've helped my mindset more than I can ever express! Thank you so much for everything, Ms. Tobias!

Can the massage gun, stretching and tapping the arm be helpful for the brain to recognize the arm still exist? I can move my arm but it's non function due to tone in the bicep.

Post ten years into recovery. I have recovered my arm function, but not hand. It’s still an appendage. I’m trying to use three sessions of twenty minutes of therapy with a hand contraption. One year of using that, still no further fingers activity. Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions?

On this video the question posed was that the person is 10 years out of stroke not “right after stroke” How do you get to the point instead of explaining the opposite?

@@rehabhqofficial That wasn’t a helpful reply in any way. I have used your links for several products & I have many therapists who i recommend to this channel. I am a very specific person. I was a personal trainer for over 15 yrs. I found your reply off putting. I meant no disrespect when I gave my original reply to the person 10yrs post stroke. I myself have had a stroke over a year ago in the right side motor skill area. I do a lot @ home for recovery. I would join your membership but 1 is too pricy for me @ this point 2 was your quick to throw me under the bus by telling me to unsubscribe. As I am part of the Stroke Sweat squad group. 🤔 As you know most stroke patients deal with mood readings & responses.

Thanks for sharing your story! Keep working with your medical team regarding the heart rate. As far as massage gun versus e-stim. i think they are both equally useful tools :)
