This disease has caused me a huge deal of pain, both physical and psychological. Around 8th grade I have always been in a class with guys 1-5 years older than I was. I had this injury, and whenever I complained about it to my family or PE teacher I would always be mocked and be told to just man it up, and that I was just making an excuse because I wasn't as fast as my classmates. This has affected my self-esteem and confidence for a long time. I have only discovered that this is in fact a real thing last year at 25. Prayers to anyone who suffered from this.

I’ve had this disease since I was 10. I’m about to turn 20 in about 3 months, so I have had the bump for about a decade. When I first got it, it was painful. Now there is not much pain anymore. It hurts a little when I have my knees bent for a while or when I stand up for a while as well.

I was diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter when I was 14. I had minor overall knee soreness that felt like an interior ligament strain. My doctor made the diagnosis based on the hard bone bump, though the bump wasn't painful or sore at all. Treatment consisted solely of immobilizing the knee for 3 months with a groin-to-ankle cast. I just palpated my knees and I can't tell which one once had Osgood-Schlatter. The bump is gone.

I'm 15 years old and I just had an avulsion fracture about 6 weeks ago, had surgery, and was put in a full leg cast for 6 weeks. The doctor said it will take a full year to make a recovery and return back to high level sports (I play basketball). I just got the cast off and I am in a brace, with the doctor saying I will be able to walk in an additional 2-3 months. The worst part is being in crutches this entire time, you can't do anything and school/everyday activities are so difficult. To anyone with knee pain or osgood-schlatters, I warn you that playing through the pain can cause you to entirely have to stop playing for a very long time. I wish I could've told myself this a few months ago. I recommend you guys to completely wait until your growthspurt is over and you're growth plates have closed (you can check this with your doctor), to keep playing.

it can be removed surgically
@aleksisgrasis8463
@aleksisgrasis8463 Ай бұрын
@@PeterFunny617 yes but there is no real need to complicate your biology by a procedure that majorly only changes the looks of the knee. In the standard case of people OSD any kind of discomfort and knee weakness arises from your history of limited knee-strength training and can be improved in any number of ways (tailored training program/physio). The biggest challenges you might run in with your knee lump is not being able to sit on your legs as comfortably as others and having an easier time bumping into stuff with your knee. None of the outlined aspects should compel for surgical removal.

I got this knee disease when I was 10 and me and my parents always thought it was temporally so I tried to live as a normal boy while playing some sports but by the time I was 15 and I could barely walk up stairs and needed correctional surgeries to walk without a cane / crutch and now fast forward to 31 I've had 6 total knee surgeries and still have bad arthritis and have never been able to live without pain medicine. I have bad knee pain every day all day and have problems walking still and it cause my quality of life to be really poor and can not find any doctor I can afford that knows enough or cares enough to find a solution besides total knee replacement which I can't find any doctor to do it.

I was 13 when mine flared up for the first time. The lumps on my knees have stayed and don’t really bother me much until I need to kneel down. And even then they’ll just pop. They’re fine if I can find a way to kneel where I’m not directly putting my body weight on the actual lump. Did tile for about a year like this. You can get them removed but that looks painful.

I was diagnosed this when I was 13 in both legs but much worse in my left leg. I’m now 51 and I still get pain now & then in my left leg. I’m 6’4” and I was told it’s more common in tall males. I also saw an old UK interview of Christopher Reeve who said he had this as well. I remember being told by Doctors to put a support bandage on it but this made it far worse.

I lived in a poor area so the doctors were accordingly bad. Even after x-ray they had no idea what was the problem. But I think I understand what’s the issue. It began when I was 13 years old. I’ve noticed that after another day at my judo school. Not going to lie, it kinda ruined my dreams. And it was difficult to do any sports for a couple of years. Now I’m 27 and it feels like it doesn’t affect my life. But sometimes I feel like my shins bones are too thin. After I run my legs hurt.

hi, I hAve been diagnosed with osgood schlatter since I was 13. I have it in both knees and it is a very very annoying sensitive area. Only touching it causes major pain. I can’t bend over or sit legs crossed or even bend my knee without having to deal with major knee pain. I was always told it’ll pass with time. Almost ten years later I stayed with the same disabilities and stronger pain. My legs keep hurting me badly and whenever I do sports or even go up the stairs or anything at all. I feel like It’s amputated. So I decided to get a surgery. 2 years after the surgery, I still feel the exact same pain with added extra pain from the surgery. I now feel pressure in my knee every 3 minutes and I have to crack my knee for the stress in my joints to free. It happens to me every couple of minutes and I need to crack my knee multiple times one after the other until I relieve all the tension and it gathers tension again in less that a minute. I’m very confused and no doctor can help me. They all say I’m fine. Does someone know / experienced this sort of thing?? I really need help because I can no longer bare the pain and stress it’s making me. I need to bend my leg every minute to get a good strong crack to relax. I have it in both knees but I only did surgery in one and I’m really sad I did it because I’m really strict in moving my legs. I can’t bend down on the ground. I’ll need someone to lift me up and I lose feeling of moving my knees for a minute but I still feel constant pain

Hello. I also had pretty bad osgood schlatters and crecently got surgery. in my rehab, ive been doing lightweight backwards sled dragging. I HIGHLY recommend this. what you need to do is strengthen the patella tendon as much as possible while also strengthening the areas around the knee. also, if you end up deciding to get surgery again, i would MAKE SURE the surgeon has performed this surgery many, many times on high level athletes. that's the only type of surgeon i would trust for this

I was a very sporty kid growing up so I ended up with this condition at 11 years old. I tried to continue playing sport but it was too painful so I had to give up. The doctors said the pain would go away as I grew up but it never did. They said there was a surgery to fix it but wouldn't let me get it done until I was fully grown. So at 21 I had the surgery and although I still have a bump on my knee, it is not as big and I no longer get pain. I got back into sport for another 10 years and now have pain due to a different condition. I'm not sure if the OS could have caused it or I am just unlucky.

I'm female and I have this. I was diagnosed when I was 10 because I had constant pain but they could only find my knee had an issue. I really wish people in my personal life will finally acknowledge how terrible this is. The pain has never gone away since I was diagnosed and my relatives think it'll go away if I do sports since some person online said it was caused my lack of movement. My condition has slowly worsened a bit more due to sports and no one believes that I physically can't run faster without my knee hurting and me potentially falling flat on my face (I ran as quick as everyone else and my knee flared up so I fell while also twisting my leg a bit weird because of my knee). This video is very well done. I hate this condition and the spread of false information with this condition. '___'

I am 20 now, and had a lump like this for other 10 years now, after initially developing the problems when playing football. Now I never have specific pain in the lump or around it anymore, however I can't kneel down onto the knee/lump because this creates a lot of pain. My question is, is it at this stage only a problem of not being accustomed to kneeling down anymore having not done it in over a decade on harder ground, or could it be that it still didn't fully heal? Has anyone had similar experiences like me and found an answer to this question?

I had this. Yea it’s basically just the tendon being stronger than the growth plate, so physical activity aggravates and causes micro fracture at the bone. It should go away when ur done growing but that excess bump will still remain. Sometimes the pain doesn’t leave even into adulthood, and is theorized to be bc micro pierces of bone get inside the tendon. I actually suffered a fracture due to osgoodschlatter. Perhaps my surgery prevented it from staying a problem.

im 30 years old, was first diagnosed at 11 or 12, and have always had chronic pain in my knee. however i went in and got x-rays of mine recently, and theres a clear avulsion fracture, the surgeon i was reffered to suggested physical therapy to "strenghten" my tendon. however i cannot straighten my knee without being in extreme pain and its difficult to even bend my knee to get in a vehicle or climb stairs.. should i get a second opinion?

There’s no way to heal an avulsion fracture u need surgery
@leelyn12

@@Bedrollsorbankrollsthat’s what I’ve read online. My surgeon and physical therapist both say that even though it’s not “fixable” it’s not something that always requires surgery. Basically they’re saying that if I can become pain free, I can avoid surgery. I’m now 3 weeks in my physical therapy, and can hardly move for days after. And my therapy isn’t anything difficult 😅 so I’m not too optimistic about recovery without surgery.

Hello, I had Osgood Schlatter when I was a kid 20 years ago, I do have the hard bony lump remaining. I would say I have completely healed as my knees are healthy, but any kneeling that I do is painful due to the entire weight pressing on the tinny lump. Are there any recomendations what to do in such a case? We still have to kneel in places like church or during exercise, any recomendations?

Does it occurs before a massive growth spurt, because some say they grew at least another foot after having it.

@@aaravsaggar7574 I was 14 when it happened(I’m 15 now) my tips are dont be scared when in pt, it will feel like it’s gonna break again, but u gotta push through that in order to get the max amount of muscle back, also if they give you exercises to do at home, DO THEM. And i recommend getting a stretch out strap and stretching for like an hour a day, I know it seems like a lot but I didn’t do some of these things and I regret it a ton

So when your doctor and rheumatologist say it's this, BUT it started to form in my mid 30s and I was not into sports or physical activities. It's still getting bigger 20 years later to where gettingbon my knees is painful as I'm kneeling on the hard, bony lumps. It's also exactly where the inherited psoriasis is on my leg. My doctor's are lazy and don't really look or care to see if it is or not. I'm now in my 50s
