I have simple partial (focal) seizures mostly. I had a bad spat where it advanced to occasional loss of conciousness, and started giving me some motor issues (hands kind of flapping about) and both the EMTs and the local emergency room doctors said "it can't be a seizure you can talk", when I was able to regain conciousness. The lack of awareness even doctors have about seizures is why I was over 41 years old when I was diagnosed, despite having this issue since I was a child, maybe my whole life. They all said I just "had anxiety" and needed to: 1. Relax 2. Go to church 3. Take antidepressants (which made them worse) 4. Take a nap All of those are real things doctors told me about my seizure complaints. I didn't know it was seizures, so I struggled to find good words to explain what was happening to me, but its amazing how much they'll write off, even AFTER YOU ARE DIAGNOSED WITH EPILEPSY.

Forgive me for my ignorance if i didn't know that she had seizures or had anything at all tied to the things shown and talked about in this video... I don't mean this comment in any rude way at all. I say this because i know context is often lost in comments on youtube or texts/emails or any communication that isn't face to face or audible over the phone. Hope your project/presentation went well!! :)

I get it too, be normal, recall something from the past, triggers strong flash back of events i dont remeber, I try to remeber the thought that triggered it but am too caught up in the current dejavu feeling, thoughts shift, another event or 2 i dont recall, im dazed, feel weird, sore stomach, different trigger everytime but i can vaguely remeber 2 figures that show up in the "feeling" that seem to make it slightly more intense before completely stopping, about 5minutes after "the feeling" i feel a weird but good bond to a previous dream ive had and makes me want to go there for some reason

This was really helpful. I was just diagnosed yesterday with epilepsy...after having an abnormal EEG that showed Epileptic discharge (im pretty sure thats how it was said) something about discharge in my left temporal lobe. I believe im having simple partial seizures in my sleep for many reasons. And i have had what i believe to be complex partial seizures during my waking hours before with my warning being extreme nausea, dizziness, vomiting or dry heaving along with loud noises in my hear that sound like a crowd screaming i also hear that while coming out of my seizure while not knowing where i am, whats happening, or who i am..then i start to think that im dead or dying...then im awoken fully usually and thankfully by my Mom who now knows if she hears me trying to vomit or actually vomiting to come to the bathroom quickly...and usually finds me on the floor with my eyes in the back of my head and groaning not sure what i do with my body ill have to ask her. But i do know ive woken up out of my sleep before or what i thought was sleep and is most likely a simple partial seizure, ill wake up with my arm in the air...or ill wake up sitting up and like coughing kind of like clearing my throat its hard to explain....over the years ive had bfs tell me that i make many noises in my sleep...and i move a lot in wierd ways. I also clench my jaw so incredibly hard that ill wake up with my jaw hurting...and ive bitten my tongue in my sleep before and i also bit my tongue during a complex partial during the day once and i woke up out of the seizure with blood in my mouth and not understanding what the hell was going on...and my friend who was with me when i collapsed from walking was crying over me and said that what i was doing was so scary and she thought i was dying... I had forgot to mention to her that i had had seizures in the past...many of them. I once had 10 in one evening...and after the 10th my Mom then called the EMT. .and they were def not happy that she waited that long....and now i know why i have such horrible side effects like brain fog every day....headaches often, extreme memory loss, my word finding is so terrible its like someone went into my brain and took 50% of my vocabulary from me. Including most of the big words i knew and even some of the more simple ones. Im constantly asking people....what is that word....um who is that guy....um (talking about a close friend or an actor that i have known about and talked about for years) ive always been a movie buff and could often call out actors names and movie names and now i can't ever. Like forgetting things like that happen to people all the time but at the level it happens to me is scary. I forget how old i am sometimes...i forget my phone number often...and much more. Basically i feel like i have half a brain :/ and now i know why. 12 years of having seizures without ever being diagnosed and put on meds to stop them will do that do you i guess. I just hope the damage isnt permanent. If anyone knows or has been through the same thing please let me know so i don't feel so alone....i dont really have anyone to talk to about it. Oh and also i found out i have epilepsy yesturday which was Tuesday and on the saturday before which is...3 days prior i found out my ex bf...the last person i was ever with romantically in any way, was hit by a train and died in the hospital or the helicopter that was taking him to the hospital. So the epilepsy and having my liscence revoked because the hospital called the DMV a month ago after they saw my EEG results to tell them that i have epilepsy and cant drive...and so now i dont have a liscense and can only get it back in 3 months after being seizure free all that time...but if i have another one after that i have to be taken to the ER again to check my brain for further damage where they will call the dmv again to tell them to again revoke my liscence......fingers crossed that these meds work (Lamictal) also please let me know if you've taken these meds and how they helped or if you had a bad experience that i should look out for with them....so yea that was the cherry on top of the My ex bf got hit by a train and killed cake. I will continue to pray more and more. Thankyou to ANYONE that read even part(ial) of this lol ;) haha get it? Partial? Ughhhh Becky stop theres no such thing as epileptic-humor. Lol but i guess i gotta make myself smile somehow even if it means making any blessed reader of this cringe terribly. Lol God bless❤🙌🙏

I've been going through the same thing for the past 6 or so years, one episode per month almost. I am a doctor, and believe me juggling post-grad studies with this condition is horrible, but hey we have to make a living in the competitive world right? So as a fellow epileptic and a medical professional i would like to give you a pointers or two about this condition. 1. Know your stressors- it may be stress, or lack of sleep, or anything that overworks the brain. So see a pattern in your episodes and detect your stressor and then try avoiding it in the future. Mine are lack of sleep and stress. 2. Give your brain a rest after every seizure. Your brain has gone through an overactivity, it needs to relax. So no heavy working/thinking/watching videos etc. 3. Just accept it and incorporate a routine so that you dont get stressed out. 4. Meditation helps. 5. Believe in yourself. I totally get it, your memory sucks, you get weird dreams, you get deja vu sometimes of these dreams, and trying to remember words is a bitch. But lets stay positive and fight it, coz there are a lot of people suffering the same thing as you. So keep your head up girl. XX

Nice to find this vid, I recognise a lot of what my neurologist told me. In my case it's complex partial seizures. I can handle the seizures, although I sometimes find it hard to get back on my feet (not literaly) in the following days. I clearly notice it causing changes in my motorskills and emotional connection to certain objects or people. Quite and enstranging experience I must say.

yes, that would imply that it is a partial seizure. usually when the seizure is in "full effect" they wont be very responsive if at all. Usually they respond on the descent of the seizure or as they are coming out of it (or fully out of it).

I have had partial complex seizures my whole life and I just got off Topamax. I also take Klonopin. I know with both of those drugs you have to be very careful mixing any type of other stimulants or anything else with them because it can throw your body out of whack!! Also a few things that set off my seizures are alcohol, lack of sleep, and stress. I would see a doctor (neurologist) if your symptoms continue. :)

Can Ehler’s Danlos or POTS cause seizures? Sometimes I feel very strange and I’ll stare at something for a few seconds. Sometimes my arms or legs will stiffen up and twitch. Could that be a seizure? I don’t lose consciousness fully, but I feel like it’s impaired.

I read something recently in the news that scientists say that there are 30 trillion human cells in the body and about 39 trillion bacterial cells in the body, so other life forms outnumber us even in our own bodies. I have tried speaking to doctors about these feeling but they don't seem to understand at all. Epilepsy can be scary. I’m still trying to find out what kind of seizures I’m going threw today. I can feel when the seizures hits, i still have full control of my self when my seizure strikes, such as grab the phone calling 911 and talk clearly telling them I’m going threw a seizure. My seizure today feels like extreme blood pressure getting pressed against my brain, My heart starts to race, I do the best I can’t to tell my self not to panic, I want to continue call 911 but don’t cuz it only last about 30 seconds. I usto have grand Mal seizure, then got the RNS which stoped the the grand mal seizures. Next I got recorded having a complex partial Seizure. Going unconscious making noise not remembering anything. Then 7 years later of the RNS being adjusted I no longer go unconscious, I have full control of my self. But the feeling of the seizure is extremely scary. Have this seizures 2-4 time a month. or I don’t know what kinda seizure it is.., when my seizure goes off reach into my pocket an I grab the RNS magnet and rub it next to the RNS. It’s puts a red flag up for the neurologist to see. It’s very scary. My neurologists report still says Complex Partial Seizures, but I don’t understand how it can be??? I have full control of my self.

not necessarily, age has nothing to do with TIA it has to do with restriction of oxygen supply to the brain. smoking restricts the vessels, narrowing the passage ways. you should still see a Dr to find out more about your sensation. don't let age fool ya, children have strokes too... hopefully, you're not having either issues. God bless you!

I don't know if he really knows. Anyhow, I apparently have simple partial seizures. I might need to switch neurologist but I have photo-sensitivity which is a trigger and I'm conscious through them. Doesn't really sound like partial. sounds like a reflex epilepsy.

Why are they taking so long to find a cure for epilepsy?
@andreaf57657 жыл бұрын
I wish there was a cure. My seizures are caused from a brain malformation. I'll have this issue and meds for life. Luckily I'm starting a diet that is hopefully going to stop the majority of my seizures!!

I think it’s more complex then we think.i have epilepsy and realize that the only time I have seizures is when I have really severe anxiety, i freeze and forget everything in that moment. How can someone cure that?

My Mum has Complex Partial Seizures every week, more then once too. She's "off" for more then 30mins each time. It sucks and theres nothing anyone can do, including myself.

These are scary. ive been getting weird episodes where my whole body freezes up. i would stand like a statue but my eyes roll up or looking at the wall. i dont blink or anything. i can feel my heart slowing down and i can hear tv noises or people talking if im outside but i cant respond to them. plus my body would feel numb at the same time. It can last sometimes a few seconds or even minutes. my husband witnessed a lot of times and said he was scared seeing me like that as he said it looks like im dead even though im still breathing. i told my gp about this and hes sent me for an ECG and blood tests and he said hes going to refer me to a specialist as he said it sounds like i had a partial seizure. for me mine happens 2 to 3 times a day even more for 3 weeks now. it is horrible and scares me when i cant move or speak. after the episodes i can walk again and talk but i get this horrible tension pain on my whole head. im hoping my gp can work out whats wrong with me and if needed have treatment for it because it terrifies me and ruining my life right now.

Same for me, after a partial seizure I find difficulty speaking and forming words. It only lasts about a minute or two. It doesn't mean that a person is stupid, far from it - otherwise how did I get a degree in English?

I have seizures and am not epileptic. I have a brain tumor. Anaplastic Oligodendrglioma. Don't assume that a person has epilepsy if they are having seizures.

Hmm, well I'm sure that to most people, whom are religious that would sound like a possession. I myself am not personally religious so I'll tell you what I think it could be. Your body was put under way too much stress. Due to the lack of sleep and then to the coming off of drugs. The first time that I ever had a seizure, I was smoking pot, for the first time in my life. That started my epilepsy. So, you may have had a partial seizure due to the drug abuse.
