I’m a telecom foreman. Thank you for this. Helps me understand what I am troubleshooting.

Glad it was helpful. I've spent a lot of time looking at PIM issues myself :)

Very good intro to PIM, as it is kind of black magic to some people. One point was maybe missed in this video: In FDD (frequency division duplex) base station weak uplink signals need to be detected in the presence of strong downlink signals. There's duplex filters to get this job done. The trouble starts however when a 3rd (or other odd) order product of two downlink signals hit the uplink frequency band. There's no way the duplex filter sees the difference between a real signal and an intermod product.

why we do not have fourth order product or any even order product ?

How 3rd order products will be yhere at distance of F2-F1 from f2 / f1 For example if my f1 is 1GHz and f2 is 1.05GHz then F2-F1 is 0.05 GHz , then how third order products at the distance of F2-F1.l from F2 / F2 I might be missed something, Please help me

what is CW Tone at 7:31?
@pauldenisowski

A CW (continuous wave) tone is simply an unmodulated carrier. PIM testing generally uses unmodulated carriers as the stimulus signals. Note that in some cases a PIM tester may "pulse" these unmodulated carriers, but this is done in order to save power (in a battery-operated tester).

Edit title to "Understanding PIM on transmission". PIM on Networking is difference meaning. Your title not clear.

(laughs) Believe it or not, I actually used to work on the other PIM (protocol independent multiicast) as well. Never occurred to me that anyone would confuse them.
