The bank failures of 2023, on both sides of the Atlantic, had commentators talking about "risk culture" in banks. The banking industry worldwide is heavily regulated and in theory the beneficiary of full and overarching "risk management frameworks" in place. Self-evidently the risk culture in a bank is a significant factor in long term viability. In June I posted a slide deck on this topic, but at 85 slides that was possibly a heavy trawl! 😁 So I've turned the deck into a video.
Those in a hurry might wish to fast-forward to:
11:30 - How to embed a genuinely effective risk culture
20:18 - Recommendations for effective risk culture
23:10 - Assessing your risk culture
25:30 - The Final Word
The topic is addressed in Chapters 2 and 18 of "The Principles of Banking" and Chapters 5 and 18 of "Anthology." I hope you find it interesting!
