Definitely your last point is the most important in this game I feel. When you are choosing an option make sure it leads somewhere.

Ive tried thinking in terms of my vs oponents moves before but it quickly becomes such a daunting task. In strive i have 5 buttons that can be used standing, crouching and jumping, thats 15, then i might have 5 specials so that 20. Then it matters if im close, medium or far so that becomes 60 combinations. Now the oponents has the same so there is 3600 different situations that can arise. And thats just against one character, given a roster of 20 character thats a whoping 72000 different situations and thats just in neutral. I find it hard to know where to even begin.

SQ explains this in the last segment. Give that a look. On my end, This is just the nature of the learning experience. It's gonna be daunting and there's a lot to take in, but the more you do it and the more you gain experience it will become easier in some ways and harder in others. Best to start with your own character, have fun while learning, and just take it in stride. Fighting games are a (sometimes lifelong) journey of improvement, self discipline and grit. Not for everybody, but those who stick to it love it.

This is the very reason chip is the worst character in the game. Highest risk with lowest reward in most situations
