Othala is the rune that is probably most important to me in my life. The word lives on in the Dutch word 'adel' (of nobility or land owning) but has an elitist, royal connotation nowadays. I won't bother you with an essay in your comment section but to me the study and meaning of the rune legitimizes and strengthens my belief in absolute land ownership. Both in the private as in the national sense. I believe a person can be spiritually bound to the land where his or her heritage lies and that that land is property of the 'original, spiritual' owners in that sense. Once again, an outstandingly insightful and refreshing perspective into our paganism. Thanks.

Thank you for the kind words and linguistic insight. I am deeply interested in the evolution of connotation in language, so I'm sure even an essay in the comments would be fascinating to read. I always enjoy your insights :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts & wisdom. 💜💜 You have given me much food for thought about Othala. In your experience, is there a reversed interpretation of this rune?

I don't often use the Runes for divination, but I would imagine the reverse meaning would have something to do with being uprooted in some sense or another (spiritual, cultural, removed from family or homeland).

That's not my area of expertise, but feel free to share it here, and I'll use what I know of symbolic imagery to venture some suggestions :)
