Thank you!!! I love the detail and explanation you put into your videos. The COMP TIA A+ training I purchased from another provider barely scratches the surface compared to your videos. I wish i would have found your video and material first!

You have to always terminate the signal at the end of the connection. You can do so by manually setting the jumper/switch/button to "Terminate"on the SCSI device that is at the end of the connection. Most devices have built-in termination which does the work of setting itself to terminate should it be on end of the connection. Others have to be set manually.

I have a background as a technician and doing electrical troubleshooting and this reminds me of things being wired in series. If one of the devices on the SCSI network is down will it interrupt the communications with other devices further down in the series? (Ex. 0 (host controller) 1 (scanner) 2 (optical drive)) would the scanner (SCSI ID 1) being down interrupt the communication with the optical drive (SCSI ID 2)?

Hey, I'm watching your 801/802 series as a visual and audio addition to Mike Meyers' 8th edition book. I appreciate that there are already differences. That gets me thinking though. Are EITHER sources (if you know the Meyers text) comprehensive enough to take the CompTIA 220-801/802 cert? Can I pass the test using just your vid series? That's my main question. Thank you for making this available!

my comptia certmaster program is saying that its 7 and 15 devices for narrow and wide respectively??? are they wrong. i see another person is getting mixed info too, i just dont wanna screw up on my certification test so i wanted to check if you misspoke!

vincent cesca It depends on how you count. The SCSI IDs are 0-7 (8 devices) on a narrow bus and 0-15 (16 devices) on a wide bus. The SCSI adapter takes one of those IDs, leaving 7 available device IDs on a narrow bus and 15 available device IDs on a wide bus. It really just depends on whether you are counting the SCSI controller as a device.

Awesome :D I use an Adaptec AHA-2940U with 2 Seagate Ultra 320 Cheetahs' for backup. I have been using them for the past 3 years and they have been the most reliable backup compared to IDE, SSD, SATA or USB storage (Not trying to slander the newest technology). These drives are more than 7 years old and they keep on chugging. They are quite loud though at 15000 RPMs. Every time I boot my PC, it sounds like it's going to take off in flight :D

No. The ID can be assigned in any order from 0 - 15 in a single daisy-chain.

It's a very long way from being gone. so you can say "SCUZZY" as many time as you would like to. Serial_attached_SCSI is up to 12Gb/s
