Wow, profound subject matter. As an English speaker I found KZbin's closed caption feature essential to capture his information. Even though I watch the English version of his video, the 1st time through I found my internal translator lagging, when he was already on to the next point so it was impossible to grasp it all on the 1st viewing. But the 2nd time with subtitles, which appeared to be accurate and in real time so I don't think they are generated. Anyway, what a revolutionary approach. I bought the program for the timing of magic hour. But, once he briefly demonstrated some of the PhotoPills features my brain exploded. Within minutes I was visualizing all sort of photo possibilities. Thank you for this video!

Hi Brad! Go to My Stuff>Settings>Azimuths. There you can choose between true North and Magnetic North :)

Hi, Rafael, please tell me how to place the black pin easily on a place that is out of the range of the map that I see on my phone. Trying to move the map by finger to find the place I want to place the pin, I am losing the black pin and I start all over again. Thank you in advance.

Hi Ioannis! Switch of the Black Pin. Find the place on the map or using (Load>Search). When you find it, zoom on the place and then switch on the Black Pin. Finally drag and drop it. We definitely want to improve this workflow in the future to make it easier.

I watched this video and the video showing how to use P P to plan and shoot the Milky Way. Is there at least one video showing how to use P P for shooting Deep Sky objects like Orion, Pleaides, the Lagoon nebula and similar targets? Thank you.

You need to align the Sun or the Moon with the Black Pin. When aligned, the panel shows the info you need abou the Sun or the Moon... and even for the Milky Way.

Thank you for another great video Rafael! I have an irrelevant question. I noticed in this video that you are able to show your finger swipes and touches on the iPhones screen using blue dots. Were these added in post-production or is there now a "show touches" feature within the Photopills App that makes this possible when recording tutorials like these?

My question is about elevation of a celestial body above a mountain top when the red pin (me) is not at sea level. If I put the black pin on the mountain top (which can be hard to do on the map in the app) you say in the video that the app will tell me the distance the celestial body will be above the ground level of the black pin. Does this mean distance above sea level? In the case of a mountain there is no ground level, so how do I interpret "ground level" in this instance. A related question is this: in the same example, the red pin is above sea level and black pin is on the mountain top. How do I know the time that the celestial body will be over the top of the mountain?

I mean, it tells you the height between the top of the mountain (where you placed the black pin) and the center of the Moon/Sun.

I am just having a little question. Planning a moon shot, over a light house. I am standing at sea level, the cliff the lighthouse sits on is 400 feet above sea-level and the top of the light is 70 feet above that. How would I figure the elevation, 470 or 400 feet above ground level? Thank you for your help,

If you place the Black Pin on the lighthouse, the elevation above ground level of Black Pin on Panel 2 you're looking for is 70feet (to have the moon centered with the top of the lighthouse). PhotoPills takes into account the terrain altitude difference.

@@PhotoPills How do you say PI (3.1415926...)? Do you say three point one million four hundred and fifteen thousand nine hundred and twenty-six OR three point one four one five nine two six. ? I suspect it is the second one. See my point. In your example 16.50 what if there was another significant digit. (16.501). Do you say sixteen point five hundred and one?
