Hunt:Showdown is a fun game. Unless you play using the Berthier. Then its not fun. This video explains why.

The "low damage", "low range" and "low muzzle velocity" are all only slightly lower than Mosin and Lebel, while having higher fire rate than both and still maintaining a damage of 130, meaning you can oneshot Hunters with missing chunks. In practice the velocity difference of 25m/s between the Berthier and the Mosin is pretty much irrelevant, same for range. Just look at the numbers, at 100m a Mosin will do 84 dmg to the upper chest, a Lebel will do 82 and a Berthier will do 81. Yes you have to eject the whole clip (without bulletgrubber) but since there are only 3 rounds in there its really easy in a firefight to fire them all. Unless you really want to top up that one round missing in the magazine you are only gonna lose 1 round from the reload, which is the same on Mosin and Lebel. The "unique feature" with the special ammo is garbage yeah but its not like you are being forced to use it, with normal ammo it has the highest reserve count of the long ammo bolt actions, meaning you get more ammo from ammo boxes in comparison to all the other ones. The rifle is also cheaper than the other long ammo bolt actions. Conclusion: The reload is a disadvantage but thats about it. All the other arguments are bs, making it seem like you just want to prove its bad without the gun actually being bad. I wasted too much time on a meme video.

Spitzer is meant to be a headshot machine kinda round. Works really well on Berthier Deadeye. Calling it bad just means you are not headshotting, which is fine, but it is not a bad round in the slightest.

I just seem to play better with the berthier than the other long bolts, I don’t use it with custom ammos and mostly use the deadeye scope because it is useable inside of compounds and at longer distances and isn’t as unwieldy as the marksman and sniper scopes.

Now after the Update its really nice to play. Higher ammo for all long ammo weapons and i feel like it was buffed

Low mag size doesn't matter with a reload that zippy. Duel ammo means 10 rounds per ammo box. It does do slightly lower damage than the Mosin and Lebel, but it still meets all the important damage thresholds so it doesn't matter much. Berthier is good.

Well, i don't rly get the low damage point. there's like 4 rifles that have higher damage, it outperforms everything else. You can also hold reload right after the shot, before the bullet was cycled to top a bullet without losing any. Is slower and situational, but definately an option if you want to be sure about full mag at all times.

As someone who's favorite long ammo rifle is the Berthier, I take offense to the absolute truthfulness of this video and now I can't understand why I do better with it than other long ammo rifles. I wanna see your manager.

This video needs a disclaimer or something because the Berthier's dual ammo feature is now a real bonus after the recent changes. Fixed ammo resupply amounts means you can get more ammo compared to the Mosin and Lebel. Incendiary ammo actually lights people on fire now, and the dual ammo lets you wallbang when that dude you burned a chunk off of goes behind cover. The spitzer rounds are also actually usable now because you can get a marksman scope and actually see people at ranges where you benefit from the increased velocity and range. Even before the changes the deadeye and riposte variants made the Berthier better for certain playstyles and loadouts.

The Berthier is interesting. It only has one scoped varient which is a deadeye, can carry 2 ammo types, and it is cheaper than all the other long ammo bolt actions. So, it can be an inbetween of a passive-aggressive mid range weapon and can be a crappier, but faster and cheaper sniper riffle (Deadeye spitzer). Personally, i don't like it, but i can still see myself using it from time to time.

The handling of berthier somehow even feel more shallow & clunky than springfield compact, the gun that sway non stop with a big ass square iron sight ....

I couldn't agree with this video more, I don't think I have ever really liked the berthier. Yeah I could hit people with the weapon but it did such low damage, what was the point? I hit a headsman twice with it at less than 40 meters and he STILL DIDN"T DIE!!! It was kinda expensive, low damage, didn't have a problem with the muzzle velocity, had a pathetic mag size and leaked ammo like crazy. Cut the price of this weapon in half and maybe I just might be interested in this weapon. At the very least, lower the price, by a lot, in fact, I don't care what anybody thinks of this statement, it should be somewhere in the $180 to $250 dollar range, then I just might be tempted. At the end of the day it's just another long ammo rifle, mosin is still the king. Nice vid dude I loved it.

Ian would be upset. (if anyone gets this joke, good job. Not niche at all but I mean, how often are people going to be looking at the comments of this video?) Also, man, Berthiers would be incredibly unlikely there, really is amazing you have even one in the game.
