I have vertigo too, for many years now, attacks come on and off. I used to have sinusitis too, which probably triggered it. I've read a lot about causes and what triggers these attacks. For me, it was stress, black coffee, lack of adequate drinking water, too much time working in front of a computer. I'd like to share about what is helping me deal with my vertigo attacks: exercises that help, like lying on a bed, and turning your head to the left while your eyes look to the right and vice versa. Avoid getting up suddenly from the bed, after you wake up. Also, make sure you sleep with your head elevated with pillows, but never on a flat bed or surface. Drinking Ginger tea, having Apple cider vinegar with honey in warm water 3 times a week, taking warm showers, avoid having too much coffee, make sure you have the correct posture while sitting before a computer, stay hydrated, have your eyes checked if you have vision problems, and best of all, take time out to relax, go on long walks, bask in warm sunshine, listen to music, indulge in your favorite hobby, stay positive at all times...Unless it's really required, visit your doctor for medication or treatment. Hope these tips help someone atleast 😊 🙏, I understand the fear and anxiety that most people may have when these attacks occur. Stay blessed. Love from India 🇮🇳

I started dealing with vertigo about 1.5 years ago. Once I had an attack that was so bad I thought I was having a stroke and got taken to hospital in an ambulance. When I got back, I was sleeping on an incline to avoid it, and developed terrible TMJ symptoms and tinnitus. It turned out I had BPPV in both ears. But did I???? I was still feeling very “floaty” for a couple months after having the Epley maneuver clear up one side and the Foster method clear the other side…. Then I saw a chiropractor. Years of poor posture (forward head posture, to be specific) and a neck injury I never got fixed caused a herniated disk in my neck, along with associated bone spurs. Every since I’ve been working with a chiropractor regularly, my symptoms have GREATLY IMPROVED. I genuinely hope this helps someone who is a frequent sufferer of vertigo. Don’t count out a cervical spine issue for chronic vertigo. Sending empathy and hugs to everyone suffering from this frightening condition!!!!

I had my first vertigo attack at 15. I’ll be 18 in January. I’ve had attacks frequently since I first got diagnosed with bpv. It’s horrible and I’m thankful for this video that explains it all so well, my doctors never explained like this. Nothing really helps me when I get my attacks, not even the head movements my physical therapist prescribed me. I’ve been healthy all my life and it saddens me that I’m sicker and kind of weaker compared to my peers. Often stress triggers my attacks, but sometimes they can literally come out of the blue, sitting in my bed BAM, eating at a restaurant BAM, doing absolutely nothing BAM, and the attacks last very long, at least a few hours or days. I really don’t hope bpv follows me through my whole life..

Sorry I hope you feel better, I know it’s not easy living with the vertigo and it is very awful feelings. I started to have vertigo in 2005 of April three trips to ER and each time they couldn’t find the roots caused so they sent me home with Meclizines to take. It comes and goes and the duration was like couple hour each vertigo attacked. Up till 2014 another trip to ER again and this time more violence with symptoms of heart raises, sweating, tingling in my left arm and fingers also vomiting. And doctor at ER did X-ray and can’t find anything wrong. At this time the vertigo reoccurring more and more like once a month and at times twice a month. I hated it’s just disrupting from work, driving etc. Late 2014, I found myself stared in the mirror and I noticed that my left eye is bulge out, uneven so, I scheduled to see eye doctor and doctor said this; there’s something wrong with eye; it looks like mass tissue growths behind your eyeball. He sent me to do MRI, three days later he wants to see me. He told me that I had a tumor behind my left eye this might caused the vertigo. In March 2015, I had surgery to re moves tumor and I’m being watch care to study this tumor and found out it was benign; I said thank you Jesus.🙏❤️ I have not vertigo for one full year after my surgery. Then in 2016 I started to have vertigo again, my family and eye doctors sent me to specialist many and many more MRI, TC and Pet scans and continues with Meclizines and see ENT. MRI/TC/Pet scans the brain looks great. Neurologist found out and diagnosed me with crystals inner ears~ BPPV was sent home and instructions of head exercises and continues with Meclizines. I followed his instructions and head exercises and it helps some but vertigo reoccurring but not as much. I wished it goes away forever.😮💨Not easy living with vertigo😓

Many haven't talked about sleeplessness, which I experienced as one of the main reasons. Yesterday and once before also, I had this bloody attack which gave me a bitter experience. (now, I am 74 male and a loner) I couldn't sleep for whole of two consecutive days and nights during both the occasions and followed by this severe simptoms of vertigo - meaning, suddenly I couldn't get up from the chair wherein I was comfortably sitting and the world was reeling before me, accute headache, severe vomiting sensation, trembling, severe perspiration and fell down on the floor indoors. Somehow, timely I rose up to enter the restroom to vomit out. After a while I took a warm water shower and started recovering slowly after three more vomits. By then it was 09-30 pm and without eating or drinking anything, I started sleeping. Believe me, I slept for 9 full hours uninterrupted and felt _almost_ alright. 8 hours after I woke up in the morning, I became 100% normal and now I am waiting for my friend to pick me up, to go and see a doctor before evening this day.

Fascinating! I had an experience of sudden onset, intermittent but frequent vertigo lasting over a week. Went to GP after falling: my sense of “vertical” was about 40^ off. GP put me through several tests for positional vertigo, asked lots of questions, and concluded after checking my meds that I was deficient in potassium due to a particular BP med I’d been taking for a couple of years. Changed meds and that fixed it. Thank you NHS!
@maryfregain46483 жыл бұрын
WOW, That's amazing and very interesting. I have Hugh Blood Pressure as well, I agree there may be a connection. After your DR changed your BP meds did it go away forever ????? I wonder what would happen if I just stopped taking my BP meds. I'm really tempted because I had always had Low BP ten approximately 10 or 12 year's ago I had a horrific chest pain, I was alone and when it wouldn't stop after about 15mins I feared I was going to pass out alone so the first time in my life I called an Ambulance, when they checked my BP It was off the charts, they immediately gave meba mouth full of Aspirin and hand full of Nitro and several injections of Morphine. Nothing was helping, we got to the ER and they worked on me all day trying to get my BP down and stop the pain, I got Morphine every 30 mins but it was no help, finally the nurse whispered she was giving me a pain med that was 10 times stronger than Morphine, whatever it was was working and little by little my BP was coming down, they never gave me the reason forbwhat caused the whole thing but I was put on BP meds and it was only a year or two when the Vertigo started, at first i was intermittent and only 4 or 5 times a year then one day 7 year's ago that attack never went away. Thanks so much for sharing, I'm going to think seriously on this

Fantastic video! I have recently been diagnosed with ALS, and have been having migraines for approximately 50 years, since childhood. Prior to my ALS diagnosis, for feelings of fullness in my right ear, I had many hearing tests and two brain scans. As a result of my latest MRI prior to diagnosis with ALS, it was found that many of the nerves on the right side of my neck, probably going up into my brain stem have made both my arms so weak that my right arm has become nearly useless and I can no longer even lift a cup of coffee with my right arm. I used to be a classical pianist, and around the time that I began having problems with my ear, I began struggling to play scales and cords or anything complicated with my right hand, so I have now sold my grand piano and stopped playing atogether. I have wonderful doctors and support from the ALS Association, and I’ve been handling things well, and this video is so validating and explains so easily things that seem to be happening inside my head. Vertigo has become a problem for me for the last three years, and this is a wonderful video to help me understand.

I just had vertigo today at 4am. While laying down. Standing walking is fine but once I put my head back, there you go. I saw a young doctor but couldn't trust her judgment. I am planning to do medical check up tomorrow. Last year it happened, much milder, but short. I noticed then that I accidentally went total vegan for 6 weeks. So I ate bone broth and lamb soup and immediately I was fine. This time is different. It's persistent. It's been such a day.... Thank you for all of you here who are sharing your experience. It's early for me, but I trust my body intelligence to tell me what's going on.... Hopefully I find the way to self healing and once more, learn about my body and myself.... 🦋 An update: it lasted for a day. My sister, who is an energy healer, advised me to practice deep, belly breathing. I did it until I fell asleep (that night, I sat sleeping, with my back leaning on a pile of 5 pillows). I probably woke up every now and then, but I noticed in between, that even though my head was tilted low, the vertigo didn't return). I woke up almost feeling my usual self, but decided to go to an ENT appointment in a big, international hospital. I was the first patient in queue, but the doctor couldn't come. I was asked to sign up to another ENT later, at first I agreed. But as I sat there, waiting, feeling my usual self, I took it as a sign from the Universe to cancel it. It's been almost a week, and it hasn't come back. Nevertheless I decided to take a rather thorough long overdue medical check up tomorrow. Just to get a big picture of my overall health. The data is important, but how I am going to read it, is even more paramount. And I know, there's no way I will blindly rely on the allopathy medicine system of reading. Their logic of "one pill for every Ill". I want to take control of my health by knowing my body/self intimately. Mind body soul/spirit. Learning about yourself is so rewarding! Hope this sharing helps others in need.

@llulaby in retrospect, I'd say, stress. Then, I remember, I was struggling to come to terms with a big decision I made few months earlier, that was still very much impacting my days. So besides eating sleeping well, I tried my best to reach the inner peace within. One of them through meditation practice. It took me sometimes. But for almost year now, I don't have any symptoms anymore. Hope you will find your own key to healing. Find the roots. Every body is different and unique.

I had episodes off and on of vertigo for about 20 years. It would be most noticeable lying down and turning my head to the left, or standing and tipping my head back. At times the vertigo was very strong, room spinning. Went to a chiropractor who worked on my neck. Immediate relief. Since then I go back every three months to keep my neck flexible. I have a tendency to tense up the left side of my neck. I watched this to see if neck tension would be mentioned in this video. It wasn't. I am free from vertigo....and migraine headaches cleared up as well. All apparently tension related.
@zachredner84 жыл бұрын
I fully agree with that! I have been seeing a Chiropractor for 40 years, and to be honest, it is my Chiropractor that keeps me mobile and relatively pain free. And yes, Chiropractic can, and does, help with a lot more than just "back and neck pain." Chiropractic can help with a LOT of "Medical" conditions, including high blood pressure, sugar diabetes, digestive issues, pulmonary issues and even erectile dysfunction. It just depends on what is "CAUSING" those problems. And the Chiropractor does it without the use of DANGEROUS and sometimes even DEADLY Prescription DRUGS! Chiropractors "treat the CAUSE of the problem." Medical doctors "treat the SYMPTOMS of the problem."

I've had vertigo for 10 years intermittently. I think a combination of poor posture, panic disorder, holding my breath when tense, and jaw clenching have been the contributing factors. Just the other day I was looking down at my phone when all of a sudden my head felt like it was getting whipped around violently. It was so bad that I saw double. Vertigo is probably the worst thing that's happened and keeps happening to me. My episodes usually last for about 5 to 10 seconds but the longest one was 1 min. Relaxation techniques like breathing exercises, meditation, warm bath, stress relief tea, valerian root, walking, and spending time in nature have helped me. I hope this helps those of you suffering from vertigo.

Dude I used to always tell my family that I would feel like the world around me was spinning and that it felt like I was being forced up out my body, but no one believed me as a kid. I used to get it all the time when I was younger and I absolutely hated it. There would be so many times where I felt like I was about to faint, but I always just told everyone I was lightheaded since no one believed me. I remember in elementary school this feeling would just randomly go crazy in class and I guarantee if i didn’t will myself to stay awake I would’ve passed out. This feeling recently got triggered when I went on a Ferris wheel and I thought I’d do some research on it, turns out it was all vertigo/dizziness. Vertigo sufferers, please see a physical therapist who is trained to perform the Epley Maneuver. It takes only 10-15 minutes to get rid of the vertigo. If you have ever had vertigo, find the physical therapist ASAP so you are prepared for getting this treated immediately next time it happens. The Epley Maneuver treats benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), which this podcaster mentions. Ask the PT for diagrams on how to treat this after the one visit. I'm having vertigo or something mimicking vertigo-like symptoms since December 8th. Head feeling heavy, back of neck feeling as if muscles are stiff making my head feel heavier than usual. Head sometimes feels as if something is inside of it sometimes. Funny thing is these symptoms feel WORSE when I lay down or close my eyes, or turn side to side or lay on my stomach when sleeping. Sleeping isn't even the same anymore because when I sleep it feels as if the weight on my left side is gonna make me fall through my own bed. Sometimes sitting down in my chair feels like I'm swaying. Left leg just feels uncomfortable. Semi off balance when walking (Left leg only) knee even goes a little further back than my right. Even getting on my knee feels like my left one isn't aligned like my right, but it doesn't matter I get a swaying or heavy feeling when I sleep, get on either knee, or close my eyes. Life just isn't the same anymore. The hardest most frustrating thing about it is, doctors can't find the problem. Having so many test done, Primary, Cardio, Neurology, and ENT can't find the problem. But I also feel like they didn't look good enough because of this whole virus plus and my schedules get set back. Diet change isn't even helping much either. Tried epley maneuver, dramamine, bonine, OTC stuff didn't seem to work. Sometimes I gets to a point where I can't do much activity around at home and sometimes it's not bad to a point where I can manage. It's getting really depressing they haven't even tried putting me on any medication yet, and I'm getting desperate and willing to do anything for this thing to just disappear from my life entirely. My case of this vertigo or vertigo menieres disease symptom is just crazy hard to describe in my case 'cause it seems like nobody have the exact symptoms I got. Tried searching all over the net for my symptoms to no avail only being that balance disorder, vertigo, meniere's is more like it. I'm really commenting for a reply hoping someone is on the same boat as me, or could help me, cause these doctors can't. The only thing that kinda helps the symptoms subside and not entirely eliminate the symptoms is exercise and that's it and seem like the feeling comes back overtime and gets worse the longer I go without exercise but again not even exercise completely eliminates the problem...

I totally know how you are feeling right now, I have this heavy head feeling for 9 years, I can not walking without holding my head with my hand. sitting makes it worse. But right now, I feel a lot better. Here is what I did: I went to see a special chiropractor called ABC (Advances Biostructural Correction). That is the only thing works actually, to make my spine even and stand straight. Go to their website and read how it works, you will know why it works and why other stuff doesn't. I can sleep a lot better, functional a lot more than before. I works 7 hours per day, without holding my head right now. So I learnt this methods and trying on all my family right now, my mom's vertigo immediatly got a lot better after the first adjustment. She still feels it now and then but much better. her neck pain was gone. and my dad's waist pain and ringing in the ear was gone after 3 or 4 adjustment. I suggest you google it and find a doctor near you. Because from your comment I can see a old me... I just want to help you. another thing which is also very very very important: control your anxiety. that could cause everything.

@@easychineselearning2176 Thank you. It feels better knowing I'm not the only one suffering in that way with the lightheaded and heavyness feeling on my left side. I thought I was the only one having this type of vertigo or whatever mimicking it when there could be another underlying problem difficult to detect. I just had a phone appointment with my doctor due to COVID-19. We're going to try seeing if my insurance will cover everything I need to be seen by a chiropractor. This crap is even ruining my sleep as sometimes I wake up lightheaded even more and feel the heavyness feeling when turning left in bed. Very hard and strange feeling to explain, but it feels like when I sleep too long on my right my right side of my head feels more fuller and heavier and the longer I sleep on my left it feels like the same way I describe the way I lay down on my right. Sometimes I can manage sometimes It gets so bad activity is limited. The day I first had it I was very dizzy and feeling nausea. nothing else and then this other stuff started getting worse. Dizzyness and nausea stopped though. I will try this, It was started to make me feel a little depressed. Even as I reply to your comment I'm sitting in my chair feeling slightly unsteady even though I'm sitting still. Thank you again, I cannot wait so see how things go. These other doctors doing tests on me have been not much help as everyone keeps telling me I'm fine when I know for sure I'm not. Nobody wants to go home and live on living like this. I cannot imagine going another year with this either. I cannot wait to see how things go to see a chiropractor, I wanna enjoy life and do more activity again! Oh and I see you mentioned controlling anxiety, I'll be working on that more too. I do remember feeling anxious and had something on my mind before attempting to sleep that day these symptoms occurred.

I think it helps if you can get someone to spot you but check w the PT.

@llewellynpatrick1602 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for this clear explanation. It seems I may have been suffering BPPV since childhood but I had just accepted it as normal to have to sleep with pillows and to avoid tilting my head back too far when working up ladders. My only real problem arose when tilted back in the dentist's chair but thankfully my dentist eventually took to tilting the chair slowly enough to prevent the vertigo and since then it has not been a problem. I'll be trying the Epley maneuver though and have suggested it to my brother-in-law who actually fell off his ladder and caused my current search for information on the condition.

Good job Tom! As a certified youtube vertigo enthusiast, I have a couple of points. Patients with Meniere's Disease will complain of vertigo which is worsened by head movement, as all causes of vertigo are. Even central causes of vertigo are worse with head movement. But they are not solely triggered by head movement as BPPV is. Actual traumatic vestibular nerve damage, and hyperviscosity syndromes would both be very very rare causes of vertigo. Nice that you mentioned vestibular migraine which is the second most common cause of vertigo after BPPV. But in fact, many patients with vestibular migraine complain that it is positional in nature. And as I mentioned, all causes of vertigo are made worse by head movement. And the episodes of vestibular migraine can last days and sometimes even more. The tricky part is that up to half of their recurrent episodes of vertigo can be isolated, with no headache or visual aura. And in fact, the most common associated symptom with vestibular migraine is photophobia. Overall very good, Tom. Peter

I had vertigo for a while, specially while driving , running, heights, etc etc , and I think I have a solution for it. Haven’t had it for a long time. First thing to do: go to an allergist . Make sure you’re not eating something that you’re allergic to , or smell that you’re allergic to , including perfumes colognes cleaning supplies etc. detergent . Mine was citrus , and beef. After changing my diet . It took a minute , close to a month or two. And drinking 5 oz of Benadryl (children’s ) at night before bed or when having vertigo. I promise ! Never had it back. Ya’LL watch what you guys eat , drink , smell. It is worth it to try. And I bet it will go away! Please try ! You guys don’t loose anything. Thank you for reading.

I have Meniere's Disease and my episodes are brought on by foods. I can one day eat a certain food, no problem, and then for whatever reason it'll bring on an episode. I get the ringing in the ears, my hearing gets distorted and the fullness and then for the big finally, nausea and vomiting. Mine last up to a week of hearing issues. The nausea and cookie throwing last about 5 to 6 hours. I believe I ended up with this issue because of ear infections in both ears when I lived in Florida. After the infection, my ears would itch like crazy! To get some kind of relief I would use Q Tips to scratch my ears. Sugar makes them really itch. I try not to use the Q Tips as it aggravates my ears. This is one nasty mean disease!

I have this now, at 71. Vision problems. Prior ear infections when in early 20''s (swimmer's ear). Now I have very itchy ears and when I stick my little finger inside to scratch, so to speak, I sense presence of some sort of liquid (like one gets when one cannot remove all water from ear after swimming). I too used q tips (and other things ). Just spent two days in hospital due to sudden inability to stand or walk, massive sweating, and uncontrollable leg movements (shaking). Can you elaborate on which foods trigger an attack? Also whether vision problems (blurry vision) still persist. From what I 've read, it might not be Peripheral Neuronitis, but Central Neuronitis instead. The ear, neck, eyes all sugger due to connection. Is there a source or Doctor who you know that specializes in this? I live in Southern California. Thank you. I appreciate your input.

It's related to certain neck conditions. Cervical vertigo can also occur following a cervical spine injury.

Just came from a visit to a doctor, who told me to take antidepressants for my issue. Hah. I had a car accident 3 years ago, was painful for me even to open my mouth. The treatment I've received was only taking medicaments. The disc between C3 and C4 is "melting away". I have a baaad deeziness and vomiting. And was told not to do any exercises and massage, that was surpsing to me. I found it really strange to take anitidepresants for my issue and nothing else can't be done. True that this summer when the pain in my neck was strong I had terrifying psychological conditions and depression, but how come my neck has nothing to do with that... I'm pissed off and don't know what to do anymore. And after the doctors are telling people that we are dumb to use y-tube and Google for information. Great video.

So you have tow separate issues: 1 disc prolapsed 2 dizziness ( vertigo) You should ask your self is there any relationship between it ? Is it started together at the same time ? Is the dizziness related to movement? Did you use any medication ? Any symptoms like weakness , paresthesia, tinnitus or hearing loss ? I hope u get better And regarding what written in google some time its harm for the patient more than help
