All of your timing stuff is amazing. I periodically re-watch your conga videos (my fav - love the feel of the tumbao). It's even gotten me to learn how to play it. Your other timing videos teaching the various instruments weren't taught by many of my previous instructors..These video's helped me learn timing that I hadn't been taught face to face..If I ever make it down to Florida from NY I will have to stop by your studio..

I was not good at salsa music timing. But from your teaching, now I can figure out when each instrument makes strong beat in Salsa music: (the piano in the #1, the conga in the #2 & #6, the claves in the #2#3#5# counts) I really appreciate that! ^====^

Something strange to me : the salsa pattern has its strong beats on 1 and 5 , that's why most of the time it's being danced ''on 1''. (Some dance it on 2, I know). My point is that hearing this conga, beats 2 and 6 are much more audible as they nearly eat up beats 1 and 5.

My salsa bigginer class is having trouble with timming. Can you make a longer video with the conga count so we can use it to practice. Mi clases de salsa, esta teniendo problemas con el conteo usando la conga. Podria hacer un video al menos de 3 minutos con el conteo de la conga. Se te va agradeser un millon. Desde Puerto Rico te escribo.

Great tuition Thank you ! Can you advise if "dancing conga" which is much cheaper is good for beginners like me or I should buy the normal size conga drum to get the sound right please? Gracias x

Hey primavera, thank you for the comment. I think you should just buy a regular sized conga. You will perfect the sounds while you learn and master the tumbao pattern. Then you will get the correct sounds to your liking. Remember, this video is just to understand the flow of the beat, using the tumbao pattern as an example. Here is the link to learn how to play the conga. How to play conga salsa : PLAYING THE CONGA TUMBAO
