7:13 “it doesn’t matter how slowly you stretch a catapault, you can even stop…” Luther you have such a gift, and share your gift so beautifully…

This video together the takeaway video has simplified the backswing. Multiple backswing thoughts reduced to a single thought ie ignite with the left shoulder and go. Everything really does fall into place, absolutely no point of thinking. Just standing over the ball and firing and things are going according to plan. Appreciate the clarity of thought and teaching with regard to swing plane of different clubs (one would have to learn multiple planes for different clubs is really an eye opener). Amazing stuff

Hi Rishi, thank you for your kind feedback. Yes, assuming sound grip and posture, the simple move of coiling the left shoulder to ignite and complete the backswing ignites 15 elements without having to think of them! I’m glad it’s making sense to you and that it is starting to work on the course for you. Thanks again for your interest, Kind regards, Luther.

Simple doesn’t always mean easy, isn’t that the truth! Another super video!

In my12yr golf journey down to 4 hcp ive been down many rabbit holes! I like LBs simple teaching, it fits into my 3 Ss Setup. Sequencing and Stability. The only major difference is in the sequencing But we are talking about milli seconds!/micro movements. I like to use the ground to start the swing and my right side to create space for the left shoulder coil ie my right side presses down fractionally into the ground to start the swing otherwise i move off the ball to much and lose my arms!

hey Luther, i found you lessons last week and love them. I can handle the shoulder turn under the chin to get a good backswing, but on the down swing I tend to raise my upper body creating fat shots. Whats a good lesson to keep "the head down"?

Hi Randy - no worries, I can help you! Don’t try to keep your head down - there is no greater killer of movement. If you feel that you are lifting up on the downswing try to free up your hand action and wrist cock throughout your swing. Any drills that teach you rotation on a central axis back and through will encourage your head to be relatively central throughout. “Eye on the ball” is a more forgiving way of staying central. Remember too / your head should indeed turn to see the ball fly during the through swing - trying to stay down is an unnatural thought that you can safely put in the trash. Hope this helps Randy, Kind regards, Luther

Please clarify for me: the comparison to a catapault connotes a tightly stretched elastic, the energy of which is suddenly released. That is so different from the forceful rotation of the shoulders through the ball that I understand from conventional teaching. Your approach makes me think of releasing a slingshot. There it’s only a matter of letting the elastic release it’s stored energy, but there is no other force applied. The human body is incapable of moving an object through muscle contraction as fast a slingshot releases its tension. Do I understand you correctly? Now that I have appointed you my personal Head Golf Professional, I have nowhere else to turn for such answers. Thank you.

Hi Arnold - my analogy about the catapult is to emphasise that a deliberate, slower backswing still can generate full power. Now, with an actual catapult stretched to 100% it releases 100% without any additional help. In golf the power created in the backswing needs to be consciously dispensed - it doesn’t need guidance or suppresssion. In short - Load the back swing fully and deliberately - then release the power created in the backswing to create the shot. Hope this clarifies for you, kind regards, Luthet

@@lutherblacklockgolfcom thank you for clarifying this. Your explanation suggests another analogy: a sprinter getting himself as deep as he can before exploding out of the blocks.
