Great video, I was told years ago that the fill light was always placed on axis with the camera to avoid any conflicting light patterns, thanks again.

Well done. Now I know I will need a fill light if I have too much contrast.

You're a great teacher. What do you think about ring lights? Thanks for posting.
@edveroskyАй бұрын
Thanks. Ring lights definitely have their uses. I just all depends on the effect you’re going for.

Once again another great instructional video. Would love to see one on dealing with glasses. When I have a portrait or headshot session I always raise my lights to avoid catching the softbox in the glasses, but then I’m dealing with longer shadows under the nose and chin. Using the fill will soften them but it’s not the look I’m going for. Maybe you have some ideas?

Hi Ed, Great and great teacher! I subscribed immediately. Can you provide starting f/stops for Key Light, Fill Light, Background and Hair Light? I am going to purchase a Sekonic Meter which will help, but I would like to get a reference f/stop setting to start. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge, Ed!

Sorry if this seems flippant. But, could there be a Vermeer pattern? And, would that be a sub-category of the Rembrandt pattern? Sorry, I just prefer Vermeer over Rembrandt.
@edverosky4 ай бұрын
I’m sure there could be. It’s just a label someone came up with to describe the look. There’s also a “loop” lighting pattern you might look up.
