Understanding the Link Between Scleroderma and Cancer- Laura K. Hummers, M.D., Sc.M.- 2018

While studies have suggested that the risk of cancer might be increased in scleroderma patients, the reason for this association has not been well understood. Possible reasons for the connection will be explored in this session. Specifically, however, we will focus on more recent data suggesting that cancer is the source of the autoimmune response in scleroderma, suggesting that it may be part of what may cause scleroderma in a subset of patients. Implications this may have for treatment and screening for cancer amongst patients with scleroderma will also be discussed.

No true what she say I got this problem 11 years now , since I been diagnosed I saw three of the best rheumatologist and no one said what she said in this video I have no symptom Last rheumatologist appointment she discharged me said no need to see me again unless I develop any symptoms but no one link this to cancer

I got scleroderma since 2008 I’m 70 now I saw the best rheumatologist in the country where I live I saw three of them None of the three mention or link scleroderma with any type of cancer not rheumatologist and not my family doctor first time I hear this no sense
