Alhamdulillah. The part about the Sahabi Tamim Ad-Dari getting lost in a time warp in 56:25, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the cave where the Dajjal was seen was indeed a portal connecting two different times. i.e. the time of Prophet (S) and the future where the Dajjal has appeared. Maybe, being chained up in the cave and left alone is what caused the Dajjal to become the Dajjal. Allah knows best.

In one of the narrations in Saheeh Muslim it's recorded that during the incident with Abu Said (radiyALlah anh), Ibn Sayyad stated that he not only knew who the Dajjaal was (i.e. where he is, where he'd be born, etc.) but that he would even be pleased if he (i.e. Ibn Sayyad himself) were Dajjaal. Ibn Sayyad also had a very unusual run-in with Ibn Umar (radiyAllah anh). Personally, I feel that Ibn Sayyad was definitely one the many minor dajjaals and I feel that the experience of Tamim al-Daari (radiyAllah anh) was dealing with another of the minor dajjaals. This is just conjecture on my part though and Allah knows best

As for ibn sayyad saying to the other guy about the dajjal, maybe he was referencing and embellishing on the tamin ad dari Hadith because he kind of knows where he is, where he’s from, his parents wouldn’t have any kids, etc. I haven’t read the Hadith, but he could just be referencing or even bragging that he knows the other hadiths. As for the controversy about the dajjal in the island, idk. The biggest question I have is why did the prophet saw and other Sahaba even question if ibn sayyad was dajjal if they thought he was chained on a remote island? Is it the thought of dajjal that was proven by tamim ad dari or the actual dajjal? Not sure. May allah swt take my soul before the fitnah of dajjal

Episode 3 Notes: The Dajjal The Dajjal is the first major sign of Qiyamah (according to some scholars) and he will come during the lifetime of Imam Mahdi RH. The term Messiah is only used Isa AS and Dajjal in Islam. Messiah means to anoint, i.e the object that is rubbed. Isa AS was anointed by Allah SWT but the Dajjal wasn’t. The Dajjals anointment will be done by someone but, we don’t know by who. Dajjal isn’t a name, it’s his title and it means the worst kind of deception. The Prophet SAW stated there would be 30 Dajjals after his time. This 30 can be taken literally or it can mean many. These 30 Dajjal will all be minor ones and thus killable by anyone. Some examples of these mini Dajjals are Mirza Ghulam Ahmed, founder of the Ahmadiyya religion and Wallace Fard Muhammad, founder of the Nation of Islam religion. Cryptic Authentic Hadith about Dajjal There are Hadiths about Dajjal that are deeply controversial due to their contents and mutual exclusivity. 1. The Story Saf of Ibn Sayyad. During the lifetime of the Prophet SAW, a child called Saf Ibn Sayyad was assumed to be a potential Dajjal. The Prophet SAW himself, did not know if this child was the actual Dajjal or just a minor one. Ibn Sayyad was from one of the Yahudi tribes of Madinah that, had remained there even after the expulsion of the infamous Yahudi tribes, by the Muslims. Ibn Sayyad was a magician and soothsayer. There were claims that he would interact with the Jinns, have visions of the future and he claimed to have knowledge of the unseen. The Prophet SAW after hearing of these rumours began interacting with him. The Prophet SAW, once took Umar RA and approached Ibn Sayyad, who at the time was a child. The Prophet SAW asked Ibn Sayyad if he acknowledges his Prophethood. Ibn Sayyad responded by saying “You are the prophet of the unlettered people” and he then flipped the question on the Prophet SAW. The Prophet SAW stated, he believes in Allah SWT and his messenger. The Prophet SAW then questioned Ibn Sayyad on his visions, to which Ibn Sayyad responded that, he sees two people who visit him, one of them tells him the truth and the other one lies to him. The Prophet SAW informed him that both of the people he sees, tell him lies. The Prophet SAW then asked Ibn Sayyad to find out what he hiding from him. This was a test to see if Ibn Sayyad knows the unseen. The Prophet SAW was hiding an Ayah of the Qur’an that, Ibn Sayyad could not possibly know about. Ibn Sayyad responded with just one word from the Ayah and couldn’t say the rest of the Ayah. The Prophet SAW then told him to “shut up as you are an enemy of Allah SWT and you will never go beyond your meagre level”. Umar RA then offered to execute Ibn Sayyad, to which the Prophet SAW stated, “if he is that actual Dajjal, then you won’t be able to kill him”. The Prophet SAW during his life tried several times to test Ibn Sayyad but, each time the encounter wasn’t fruitful. After the Prophet SAWs demise, the Sahabah RA were divided on the status of Ibn Sayyad, many like Umar RA, Abdullah Ibn Umar, Hafsa Bint Umar RA, and many others swore Ibn Sayyad is the actual Dajjal. On one occasion Abdullah Ibn Umar RA and Ibn Sayyad had a verbal argument which left Ibn Sayyad feeling very angry. Ibn Umar RA then want to Hafsa RAs home and she told him not to argue with Ibn Sayyad because, the Dajjal becomes the Dajjal after someone angers him. However, some Sahabah RA, such as Abu Said Al Khudri RA, denied Ibn Sayyad was the Dajjal. Abu Said Al Khudri RA once went on Hajj with a caravan of Muslims including Ibn Sayyad. During the journey, everyone in the caravan avoided him including Abu Said Al Khudri RA. Ibn Sayyad noticed this and approached Abu Said Al Khudri RA. Ibn Sayyad then commented on how he wished, he could commit suicide because of all the gossip. Ibn Sayyad then began making strong arguments as to why he isn’t the Dajjal, such as the fact he is living in Medina and Dajjal cant enter Makkah and Medina. He also argued that he is a Muslim and Dajjal is a kafir. Upon hearing the arguments by Ibn Sayyad, Abu Said Al Khudri RA was about to feel some sympathy for him. But, Ibn Sayyad then stated “But, I know who the Dajjal is, where he will be born, who his parents are and where he is right now”. Abu Said Al Khudri RA then said “may you be cursed Ibn Sayyad for what you have done” and left his presence. For the rest of his life Ibn Sayyad was ostracised by the people of Madinah due to the rumours of him being the Dajjal, even the Sahabah RA avoided him. Ibn Sayyad disappeared during the Battle of Al Harra in 64AH and wasn’t seen again. We don’t know if/how he died or even if he died as Muslim. However, Islamic scholars don’t view Ibn Sayyad to be the actual Dajjal but, rather a minor Dajjal during the lifetime of the Prophet SAW. According to the above narration by Abu Said Al Khudri RH, Ibn Sayyad may have become a Muslim after the demise of the Prophet SAW. But, even then he isn’t viewed as being a Sahabi but, rather as a potential Tabi’un. Even if he did accept Islam and is a Tabi’un, as stated in Abu Said Al Khudri RAs narration, he seemed to still have some connections to the Jinn. Ibn Sayyad left behind a son called Umarra ibn Safi ibn Sayyad RH who was a great scholar and he was one of the teachers of Imam Malik RH. 2. The Hadith of Tamim Al Dari In 9AH a delegation led by Tamim Al Dari RA came to Madinah and accepted Islam. Tamim RA after accepting Islam informed the Prophet SAW of an event that happened during his younger years. The Prophet SAW upon hearing Tamim RAs story, called the Muslims to the masjid via a crier so, they can listen to the Hadith of Tamim Al Dari. Years ago Tamim RA and his crew were lost at sea without many supplies left. They saw a small unknown island and they decided to land there. There they met a terrifying beast that was so hairy and it could speak. The beast told them to follow him, and took them to go to a nearby monastery. Where they saw a large man that was tied up in a severe way. The man then asked them numerous questions pertaining to the world. They answered his questions out of fear and told him the truth. At the end of his interrogation, the man asked, about the coming of the Prophet SAW. Tamim answered honestly about how the Prophet SAW has come and begun his Dawah. The man after hearing about the life of the Prophet SAW stated “ if the Arabs have any good in them, then they will follow the Prophet SAW”. The man then said he is the Dajjal and soon he will be released. He then said he will visit all cities on earth within 40 days apart from Makkah and Madinah, which angels will prevent him from entering. After the Sahabah RA had heard the Hadith of Tamim Al Dari RA, the Prophet SAW asked them, “didn’t I tell you about the Dajjal” to which they all confirmed he did. How to reconcile the Hadith of Tamim Al Dari RA with other Hadiths about Dajjal? A minority of modern scholars have problematised this Hadith because it contradicts other Hadiths (see next section below). Rashid Rida and Sheikh Uthaymin for example, have called his Hadith inauthentic in terms of contents, even though its chains are authentic. Despite this, the majority of Muslim scholars of Sunni Islam view it to be authentic, even though it may seemingly contradict other Hadith. Muslim scholars reconcile this Hadith about Dajjal with others via two ways. The first way is to interpret that, Tamim RA got lost into a different time, meaning he could have met future Dajjal and Allah SWT allowed him to do this as a special miracle. The second interpretation is Dajjal was born in the past to childless parents but, was then chained up and since then is being kept on an island until he is released. It’s important to note that, the Hadith of Tamim RA is the only one which, mentions Dajjal is currently alive and chained up. Is the hadith of Tamim ad Dari appearing odd in light of other hadiths or is it the other hadiths looking odd in terms of Tamim ad Dari's sahih hadith on Dajjal, that, Sir, is the question. It looks more like Tamim Ad Dari' hadith is a vision that needs to be interpreted, and no doubt the Salafi literal mindset will struggle with that immensely. Respectfully,

As salamu alaykum Abt this lost island hadith, I came across a video that had a theory that makes sense as it reconciles between the 2 hadith by using science and the concept of advanced technology. It also only used authentic hadith. I wanted to ask, should this theory be taken into consideration or disregarded? I found it interesting and thought might as well ask a scholar since idk any better...
