Just about arranged marriages though: I married a guy I grew to love. The problem with arranged marriages in modern society, particularly if you weren't raised in the culture of it yourself, is when the going gets truly tough, you do need a genuine love interest to have been there from the start in order to make it through. Otherwise leaving is so much easier. But totes agree on the values of marriage still, it does mean you're more bound regardless of the errors made in the relationship.

Marriage is bigger than love though, it's a legally binding contract. When you get married your significant other has power of attorney unless specified otherwise. If you were in an accident that left you on life support, your gf/bf has no right to decide what to do with your life, it would be a family member. Also, when you die and you have life insurance, if you do not have a will your bf/gf cannot collect your life insurance policy, if you have one. Marriage is bigger than love, it's legal contracts and money 💰. Tangent- if you're married with kids, the money you get back during the tax season is remarkable 😂 🤑.
