This is awesome. I wonder if an underwater drone without a tether is possible as well. That would be much easier to use with a lot more freedom. Thanks for going through the effort of making the video and sharing this technology with us.

Communication is a problem if it is wireless. WiFi signals do not travel far in water. No cable would have pros and cons. I can imagine it would be possible to loose the drone. The cable makes it possible to pull it back if the battery is out. Being able to use it freely would though be optimal for photography as you suggest.

Good question! Yes, it can, but it is probably best to use it from a boat or a harbor where it is easy to handle the cord. Good weather would be ideal.
