This video is a prime example of how experience and knowledge can come together to improve the use of a fishing technique.: I think good fishermen and women are naturally obsessive as well as tenacious. Those qualities, combined with a video like this that "does the homework for you" on a topic such as spinnerbaits (generally), sure cuts to the chase, and gets people of any bass fishing level and competency on the right track quickly, or serves to comfirm their own experience and knowledge.

Matt, IMO the YUM Pulse swimbait has a tail kick like the Storm Largo Shad, check them out. They also have ridges on the sides that make them WOBBLE side to side, causing that secondary action that Tim and you discuss so often. I think you should consider the YUM Pulse swimbaits for your swim jigs and spinnerbaits. They are also inexpensive and have great colors. The only drawback is the absence of a clamshell container for the YUM Pulse swimbait. Therefore, their tails can come kinked, and they are best purchased in-person.

I think the most important part of adding a swimbait is giving some surface area and book for the bass to vacuum in when they open their mouth. They will strike at the general source of the vibration but they will end up getting suction on the swim bait and therefore suck the hook into their mouth. I have experienced the same increase took a percentage just by adding a chunk of any random plastic onto the hook even if it’s shorter than the skirt and doesn’t really change the overall profile of the bait. So I think it’s more about suction than the visual look of the bait when the bass comes to strike
@Straight_Kash2 жыл бұрын

Another great trailer tip is to rig a 3.2 Kietech on a trailer hook all the way up to the eye, almost in the plastic, and put it on a spinner bait. The trailer comes out of the skirt right in the middle. Gives it a better baitfish profile from the side view. The skirt of a spinner bait usually runs higher than the hook and the trailer is hanging out the bottom of the skirt instead of being streamlined.
@duanebledsoe75662 жыл бұрын
The first lure I ever caught a fish on was a spinnerbait. I caught 5 bass that day before the skirt got tore up. I was hooked for life and a spinnerbait has remained one of my favorite lures to use over most others ever since. That was 26 years ago.

When you were talking about how the bass would eat the blades when you didn’t have a trailer, do you think that could be because the trailer provides some surface area for the bass to create suction when it sucks the bait in? Maybe they just weren’t able to inhale it properly. That’s something BassfishingHQ talks about on his channel. Like when a tree has no leaves on it, the wind passes right through, but when it has leaves, it will sway in the wind.
