It’s not the most wildly imaginative remix, it doesn’t drastically break new ground or dramatically shatter the dominant paradigms of electronica, but none of that matters because it’s absolutely inundated in that oh so vital and often elusive ingredient worshipped in nightclubs worldwide: GROOVE. Metric tonnes of it. And it’s my favourite remix of “Cowgirl” for precisely that reason. It attained its renown by the sheer raw power of groove alone; no special sauce, secret ingredient or hyperdexterous technique was necessary. A vivid presentation of that evergreen principle: less is more. Phenomenal. Futureshock’s own music also adheres to that principle, and it’s highly recommended for Underworld fans looking for more adventurous progressive house (with a side of techno, a spice of drum & bass and a garnish of breakbeat 😁).

Still here in 2024. Always amazed how plentiful bangers like this seemed to be during the golden prog years. There’s still new music today that try to come close to the vibe of this era, but it is so scarce and obscure. It’s like they caught lightning in a bottle. It can’t be counterfeited or faked.

One of the best is also "Underworld - Cowgirl (Bedrock Mix)".

Heard Fatboy Slim drop this track at Ultra Music Festival 2007.. Straight banger.

Remember hearing this on Radio 1's broadcast of the Leeds Love Parade way back in the day (2000ish?) - Darren Emerson played it as his final tune I think before Sasha took over for an epic 30 minutes or so. Only slightly spoiled by Scott bloody Mills talking over the end of Yeke Yeke 😠
Saw them in Newcastle in 2002. Last time I heard of them.

Me too, I never even realised there was a non-fading version. Would usually have mixed out by then anyway, but it's annoying not to have that on the vinyl.

honestly expected more from futureshock. this is kinda weird cuz the elements of the original track are swung whereas the elements futureshock added are straight, which causes a weird & confused rhythmic feel that i dont really like
