Nice to hear this! I'm really intrigued by the switch Underworld made between 1989 and 1993, so this feels like another piece of the puzzle...

Its a hybrid of old and new- a live band playing an electronic track. Very interesting and funky :)

I always suspected it was a transitional song of sorts for them and now I know!

+dub3299 Pretty much, I wonder if they had recorded a studio demo of this version and used that as the basis for the Dubno one when they were making the other Dubno demos. Dirty Ambi Piano (the demo that became Dirty Epic) was made about a month after this recording.

i have been at this concert, in fact there were 2 setts on two evenings. the band had a new album coming out called "can you hear me" and the new material sounded great, including mother earth. unfortunately the album was never released, instead they cancelled another concert in Hamburg and it took them another year to release dubnobasswithmyheadman, where m.e was included. i still have my recording from the concert in 1991 and I am really sorry that they changed their style of music.

Ben Kenobi They gained far more recognition with their music after they changed their style. They pushed their art beyond anything they could have done with this version of the band. It's cool if you don't dig it, but no need to be "sorry" they didn't stick to only what you liked.

Ben Kenobi Do you remember anything else about this? i've read interviews where they mention cancelling an album while they were making Dubnobasswithmyheadman. the name "Can you hear me" sounds similar to Can You Feel Me, which was an early sounding demo from that time that they released on the dubno remaster and it actually got reworked into the ending of Mmm Skyscraper. Perhaps they did intend for songs like Can You Feel Me, The Hump, Organ, and Mother Earth to get released on an album together at one point. I'm not sure if the second show of the two they did is available online, but i'll have a look. The set list for this one was pretty much Change the Weather and Underneath the Radar with a few extras like this.
