There were several problems with BLOOD WARS. They didn't make Selene smart. In the previous movies she wasn't just a terrific fighter, she was smart. In BLOOD WARS she didn't get that. For example, she fights the enhanced Lycan Marius and her movie line is ' What are you? ". That doesn't make sense because she had fought and defeated them at ANTIGEN. They used silver nitrate. It would have been more in keeping with her character to have her report back to David what they were up against. She was good at gathering and reporting intelligence. It was cool to have her fighting an opponent she knew she couldn't defeat even while Marius was beating the pudding out of her because she was protecting the other vampires by keeping Marius occupied, but they failed with the motivation. In the prior movies her motivation was her love for Michael and Eve. In BLOOD WARS her motivation should have been protecting the vampire children, which she would be willing to do because she was a mother. They even had a scene where she saved a vampire child, but they never made that explicit. They also should have used that in the betrayal scene. It would have made more sense for Semira to betray Selene after appealing to her maternal feelings by pretending she wanted Selene to help her find her own lost child. Once Selene let down her guard, then she could use the poison and could have easily blamed one of the new deathdealers for that treachery. BLOODWARS has all the action but failed the story continuity and didn't make Selene the superb character she was in the prior movies. ;-)
