As an ex-firefighter, a couple of things to keep in mind.....If your vehicle is on fire, and you know where the local fire dept station is at, and you want to attempt to drive there......... DON'T DO THAT! The guy should've immediately exited the vehicle and called the fire dept to come to him. Secondly......If you see a gas canister with flames shooting out of places where they shouldn't be, and you want to attempt to move it to a safer area........DON'T DO THAT! That thing could've easily exploded at any second, sending not only flames everywhere, but burning hot pieces of metal, just like a grenade.

@@iteerrex8166 sadly, this is very normal for the Denver Metro area. I’ve lived here my whole life and… it happens a lot. One town’s chief of police is the one who sets off illegal fireworks! Driving home one night, I pass a single roadblock because two people had been stabbed and their apartment set on fire. Police let me drive through the perimeter no problem. We’re just not totally phased by fire anymore. If my house caught fire… I’d grab my meds and walk to the firehouse a block away. Even a random bird in the house overnight was no issue. We just left the front door open so she could fly away. She was probably inside for close to twelve hours.

Hey! Newfoundlander here.... Hurricane Fiona didn't destroy "beach homes" they were actual homes, and two women were in their homes when they were swept out to sea. One was rescued & one perished. Most towns in Newfoundland are located near the water because for most of Newfoundland's history - people lived off of the water.
@onthursday1599
@onthursday1599 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the additional info. It was a terrible tragedy. Are you saying the homes weren't on the beach or is the term "beach home" offensive in your area?
@Nancy.M.
@Nancy.M. 2 ай бұрын
@onthursday1599 Hello! Well, it isn't that the term "beach home" is offensive... it's just that they're not beach homes. A "beach home" to us is a home on the beach in a warm, tropical climate. A temporary - or - vacation home. Most towns in our province are built around the water. Many of those homes are built on the cliffs, or shore, closer to the water. Especially the older homes. Though there are newer ones built there as well - mostly for the view. The older homes were built close to the water because even up to the 1980's - fishing was the main source of food or income & it was easier to live near the water. Since the fishery collapsed - new homes that are built near the water are either built close to relatives homes - or their built for the view. For the most part, Newfoundland doesn't have traditional beaches. Two examples of the classic "white sandy beach" would be in Lumsdom, or Northern Bay Sands (though I'm sure there are others). There are some beaches that have some blue sand. Most beaches are rocky. Filled with smooth, round, blue rocks of all kinds of sizes. Even then - beaches are not the only shoreline. Most shorelines are rocky and cliff like. The houses that were destroyed were not on a beach. They were built on the rocky shoreline. So maybe a more accurate description would be "houses destroyed on the rocky shoreline - next to the ocean"? I hope I answered that okay!

The term beach home in this video is just referring to where the home is located. Like suburban homes. Beach homes and beach houses are different to me. A home is where the heart is. It’s your permanent residence. A house describes the property.

@@Hhbb.9 i know this comment is 2 months old, but i also wanted to give a bit more insight on blindness! :D most blind people still have a percentage of their vision. sometimes it's blurry, sometimes it's like looking through a straw. it depends on the type of blindness, but there's always a percentage that each person can see. most blind people can make out vague shapes of what they're looking at, and that's made easier when they know what they're *supposed* to be looking at a vague and rudimentary example on how it can help identify what is happening in a clip, using the porch fire as a reference: there's light on the right of the screen, it's getting bigger. that must be the fire. i heard something fall; it must be causing plenty of damage. i can barely make out the movement on the left, oh that's the guy! and there's the kid he mentioned, rushing out!

That battery one, a part of me is thinking it might not have been an accident the battery shorted and caught fire. Except the cleaner screwed up that idea.

It's more likely someone was trying to get rid of an old or damaged lithium battery. When they get old and are exposed to humidity it can cause a thermal runaway that can result in this. That is why people are discouraged from keeping old phone and laptop batteries, they can literally do this. Also I should add, although they can catch a house on fire, lithium ion battery explosions are often self contained, that is why the fire didn't spread too much in the video. They are a poor idea for an insurance scam.
@bishopcorva
@bishopcorva 2 ай бұрын
@@AccidentallyOnPurpose You're right in that it's often a bad idea to hinge all hopes on a plan where the key component must fail a certain way. Yet I still suspect that it was a fairly easily thwarted scam since the battery pack was moved from a office. A office presumably loaded with papers and cardboard boxes, carpeting and other combustible material. To the foyer area that had very little in the way of combustible material on hand Plus it's China, a country so bathed in corruption that it makes the US Congress look the part of integrity.

Did a little bit of a research and found that January 24th 2023 Houston NWS issue its first ever Tornado Emergency for this particular tornado since Tornado emergency were invented back in 2016. Still an incredible statistic considering how many tornadoes TX sees.

15:02 correction in the pine tar. Hitters in baseball are allowed to use pine tar on their bat for grip. Pitchers are not allowed to use pine tar or any other substance, but there was a trend in 2020 and in following years of pitchers using various substances to get better grip. Baseball literally had a “sticky stuff” epidemic.

This is my closest experience with a house fire: I was babysitting my 2 nephews one day and just as we were finding shoes and coats to go to the park my floor lamp caught fire. It was a really tall lamp (almost floor to ceiling) with acrylic rings at the top that my mom had given me from the 80s and apparently one of the rings slipped off center and was close enough to the bulb that it caught fire. Luckily my nephews aged 3 and 4 at the time were great listeners and ran outside when I told them to. I tried unplugging it to carry it out since the flame was kissing the ceiling and we didn't have a fire extinguisher or smoke alarms (very old house) but the cord was somehow stuck under a bookshelf. I then had to run to the kitchen to grab some scissors, cut the wire, carry the lamp all the way through the living room and kitchen, and throw the lamp outside where I sprayed it with the hose. The house is small and its from the 1930s (electric updated in the 60s and again in the 80s) and its been lived in by all the young adults in my family sort of like a transition house from highschool to adulthood so if we had left for the park any earlier it likely would've burned quickly and tragically.

Good video but number 4 has some really incorrect information. Houston gets hit by bad weather like tornadoes and hurricanes often. In fact, between 1950 and 2023 Harris County has had 247 confirmed tornadoes. That is more than any other county in Texas and Texas sees more tornadoes than any other state. Just making a correction.

Those house fires are a good example of the importance of always having at least one fire extinguisher about the place. I have three in strategic locations because I'm terrified of the possibility of a fire. Make sure you keep it/them properly serviced and that you know how to use them. No time to start reading the instructions in an emergency.

I don’t know where you got your information, but the information about Deer Park Texas and Houston issuing its first tornado warning are extremely erroneous. This is on the gulf coast and we get lots of hurricanes. People may not realize it but with hurricanes you get lots of tornadoes. I’ve lived in this area since 2016 and we get tornado warnings all the time!

I'm not too sure but i think it might've been their first "Tornado Emergency" they've ever issued. of course they've issued many many tornado warnings in the past. this might've been the first Tornado Emergency for Houston's office to issue

The Houston area doesn’t use the sirens for tornados. They have designated their use for chemical releases, etc due to all the refineries. The NWS issues tornado warnings via the EAS (emergency alert system) on tv and radio and also via internet and text messaging. They decided not to use the sirens for tornados so as not to confuse people.

Story 1: The fire still seemed relatively small by the time she got him out. A kitchen fire extinguisher while filling a bucket with water should have taken care of it, instead of just letting it burn while phoning for someone else to drive over and help-especially with multiple people in the house, so multiple faucets could be filling multiple containers

Fire scared me when I was 11, it was a neighbors house about 7 houses down the hill from us. It scared me so much that I got scared hearing fire engines for about 2 years. I woke up and thought it was our house, the smoke smell was so strong. 2 people died in that fire. I can only imagine the fear and PTSD of it being your house, rather than a neighbor, based on what happened to me.

@@canislatrans8285Wow that must be terrifying go thru that. And unfortunately we lost our family cat in that fire. What caused my house fire was a dryer but the overheating sensor malfunctioned and all items in the dryer caught on fire and the dryer suddenly exploded and unfortunately my cat was using a litter box at that time, she caught on fire and I heard my cat dying screaming. All that happened at 1 o'clock in the morning.

I find it frightening what your own body can do to you, the older man with dementia sees that it burns but he can't process this information, if his family hadn't been there, he simply wouldn't have survived it, such events are the reason why I'm afraid of getting old
