Ray Galton and Alan Simpson met as teenagers in a TB sanatorium in 1948. They were probably afflicted by boredom and a sense of alienation as well as their illness because all the other occupants were much older than them. Writing saved them, and together they wrote themselves into good health, going on to become one of the best-loved and most enduring writing partnerships in comedy history.

The Swedish version of "Steptoe and Son " "Abert och Herbert" withStern-Ake Cederhok and Tomas von Brömsen is abosoluly a comedy series classic here in Sweden. They even wrote a Tv-movie for thees actors and their characters.

Hi, I don't dispute that it's disputed, it's certainly not undisputed, but Ray and Alan were just ahead I reckon, with Perry and Croft tied with Clement and La Frenais, Linehan and Matthews and Johnny Speight for second

Perry and Croft, Clement and La Frenais, John Cleese and Connie Booth, Johnny Speight, John Sullivan...all geniuses, but for me, Galton and Simpson top the lot
