I wonder if Baker was bragging and being loud in the Browns complex saying he’s up next or it’s his turn now referring to setting the qb market. I heard somewhere he was saying something in the line of “it’s my turn now”. So I’m wondering if Browns management was rubbed the wrong way by Bsker openly saying he’s gonna break their bank and saying it like they have no leverage or other choice but to pay him top dollar. Problem is, all these average qbs setting the qb market one after another years back was coming to an end. The money was just getting way too big for qbs that weren’t winning much. Now while baker isn’t a top 10 QB in the league or anything, I think the perception of him has become far too harsh. He was very solid for the browns up until this past year where he was injured and I also don’t think the browns system was the best fit for him the last couple years either with a run heavy offense. I think the next couple of years for him will be rough but he’s definitely a starter in the NFL and I hope he’s able to find a home and maybe even become a bit more level headed and humble.

Mayfield was told by the brass they would go after if a premier QB became available. One did. And he curled up in the fetal position, cried, demanded a trade (to a specific team!) and ruined his own trade value. If he thinks the Browns are gonna burn $18+ million just to cut him so he's a free agent, he's sadly mistaken. Browns will try a recoup a higher draft pick by paying most or all of his salary in exchange for a draft pick. How high they can get is yet to be determined.

This whole notion that Baker is supposed to just take it and just think “I need to get better for them” is so stupid. They were a flaming trash can before he got there and he bought them back to relevancy and even got them a playoff win. I’m not a huge baker fan as a qb but in this case the browns put themselves in this situation. It’s human nature to tell the browns to F off if they tell you they’re looking for other QB options.

As soon as it came around to Odell all bets were off! Seems like both of them are in the same boat waiting to get signed up. Yeah, I think the only reason Cleveland came out with all that money was because they knew they messed up big time with Baker. There was no turning back from that; it just wasn't going to work out anymore. Now they're in a very serious situation going forward.

To some extent, due to the format of the show and the way Baker consumes a segment per day, I believe Skip is contractually obligated to take the contrary position to reason. It’s like debate class in school. Sometimes, you get stuck having to argue for a position that you really don’t agree with. If that’s the case, then he’s doing a petty impressive job, considering Baker hasn’t given him much ammunition to work with.
