Wrong.. Boston literally had the worst record in the East while LeBron was leading the Cavs to The Finals.. the Celtics and Pierce weren't getting past LeBron and the Cavs without Garnett and Allen.. Boston had to give everything they had to beat the Cavs in 7 during those 2008 playoffs.. they had to worry about LeBron before even thinking about Kobe.

It's all about intangibles and perception. Kobe and Mike were highly feared for sure, they were doing more emotional and phychological damage (attitude, trashtalk, eye contact, ego, killer instinct,...). In the other hand, we have lebron with his great talent, his massive gifted body but also his friendly approach, his hilarious stories and his role model image (son, husband, father, community engagement, etc.).
