2 жыл бұрын

USA Today released their list of the greatest NBA players of all time and Skip’s guy Michael Jordan came up with the No. 1 spot. To no one’s surprise, LeBron James then came in at No. 2, followed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and Wilt Chamberlain. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to USA Today's rankings.

@Clan leader... Aren’t kidding me with that?? Everywhere u go for nba info theyre trying to convince u lebron is the goat!...Man this is one of the weirdest ones I’ve ever heard! Bro, EVERY sports show, debate show, radio show, whatever show literally pushes the same agenda and have been for a while now.Seriously what are u talking about??Everything is about trying to actually TALK lebrons career higher or MJs lower. Every other day someone’s trying to TALK or argue someone’s career to a dif place. They’re constantly going back in time and trying to redefine things in MJs career to try and make it sound worse and make lebrons career sound better. They got people in the daily nba media constantly doing that stuff every day or every other day at least and u know it... If people are influenced in any way as to which side to lean towards in this ‘debate’,it is clearly and OBVIOUSLY to get u on team lebron. Theyre so desperate they literally tell actual lies on live tv about MJs career. They change number/,stats,they change circumstance and they’re favorite thing is to tell half-truths and half-stories and always no matter what,at all cost, leave out common sense context!!

He scored a 100 pts in a game, grabbed 55 rebounds in a game against Bill Russell (the 2nd best rebounder in the league at the time), blocked 26 shots in a game, registered the only quintuple double in league history. Averaged 50pts in a season, averaged 27rebounds in a season, lead the league in assists for a season, led the league in blocks his entire career. Dunked his foul shots from the free throw line, yeah look that up. The man was an absolutely basketball God. There is a Mount Chamberlain with 1 person on it, and then a Mount Rushmore for who should round out the starting 5. Nuff said.

While 6-0 is great and all that, what really matters is the ability to show up on the big games ALWAYS. One of my favorite quotes from the wolf of wall street is "Judge me on my loses because I have so few" Michael always showed up when it mattered. You cannot point to one game where Michael was absolutely god awful when it mattered not unlike Lebron on finals against the Mavs. Lebron is so great that even if he fails once it will be held up against him. When I rank my greatest I do not go with their greatest wins because all of the top 10 has them, but their greatest failings because they have so few and Lebron's was a travesty compared to his legendary career and you can't even make excuses for him, he had great co-stars and supporting cast, he was on or nearly on his prime and he failed hard by his standards, that's what really matters to me.

The Golden Age of the NBA happened between 1980-1998. Magic scored 42 pts in 1980 to MJ's 45 pts in 1998. NBA will never feel that great again. It's similar to music being better back then.

Michael Jordan perfected the legacy of "Nike" to the NBA. That is unrivaled by anyone like Doctor J did to Converse. NBA stats, movies, music, nike, commerical icon etc...AIR Jordan's in a league of his own and now "Nike" will spread to other sports including the Olympics.

I feel like Kobe is the one “great” where u had to either personally watch or just know the context of his career to see how dominant he truly was. He’s one of the only “greats” that didn’t have a championship caliber team built around him at his peak. He didn’t start early in his career (no coach gave players straight out of HS a chance to play early til Bron) and his last few years was mainly spent injured. Most people that throw shade on Kobe just look at career avgs (which don’t truly reflect how good he was) and either don’t know/ consider the context around em.

Kobe was playing relatively bad after his Achilles injury but still good enough to be legit. Everyone talks about his misses which that played HEAVILY on. But from 2000-2013 who could stop him? He’s the main reason players like Iverson, Melo, Nash etc don’t have championships (Dwight as well but he has one now)
