@tbirum7 жыл бұрын
When you have a RB supplying 1600+ yards on the ground you SHOULD put up a top 10 Rookie Season. The best friend any QB can have is a 1600+ RB lining up next to him. because that keeps the defense honest, it means on 3rd and 5 you can still run the ball, it means that they are not dropping 7 men back into coverage, it means the team is not asking you to put them on your shoulders and carry them to victory, look at Dak Prescot and the season he had as a Rookie, do you think he would have had the same success that he had as a Rookie QB with out Zeke running for some 1700+ yards? RG3 had a great Rookie campaign, BUT without Alfred Morris have an even more impressive Rookie season by supplying 1600+ yards as a 6th round Rookie RB, the Redskins do not go 10-6 and Andrew Luck wins Rookie of the year honors (The Colts also went to the playoffs in his Rookie Year as did the Seahawks with Russel Wilson

As a Washington fan, I will say that even though RG3 was the right pick for us at #2, indeed the steal for us was Alfred Morris. Both of them together gave us a wonderful offense connection at the time, and quite honestly I still can't understand why they let him go and thought that Matt Jones was gonna be the one all end RB. Oh well, all in the past.

As a fan of the skins that was a terrible 2 seasons watching him try to play in the pocket. Mike did what harbaugh is doing right now for for Jackson for Robert but griffin was too obsessed with the media’s perception of him to realize that he could’ve been a much bigger weapon than simply a drop back passer. You can hear in mikes voice that he believed and still believes that griffin could’ve been a touchdown and yards machine. Robert just had to learn to slide and avoid contact which he never did. Things would’ve been different if he trusted mike more. Mike went out of his way for him more than any coach from his era with his accomplishments ever would.

It's amazing that a injury that would have most people walking with a cane is overlooked. This man destroyed a ACL after already having destroyed the other ACL in college. He had surgery to repair the ACL damaged in the playoffs by taking cartilage from the knee that was damaged in college. At the end if the day, RGIII is a competitor, and those who never played the game, you will never understand the competitiveness of athletes. The missing link that no one talked about is that the offensive line after the injury was horrific, and as a result, he was getting pounded when dropping back. Most importantly, the receivers were not getting separation consistently, and as a result, he had to put the ball down, and run. If sliding was a issue, time should have been put in TEACH!!!! You had a quarterback that was damaged goods, and should not have come back prior to the reaching the playoffs. They should have left Cousins in to allow RGIII's knee to heal more. They had no confidence in Cousins to do that. The media will not discuss this, or ask Shanahan why he left RGIII in the game when they were up 14-0 to the Seahawks after he visibly got hurt. The defense was on the feild too long in the second half because the quarterback couldn't move the ball with a bad wheel. He should have been taken out, and Cousins should have been put in to at least take more time off the clock. The defense was killing Seattle until they were gassed.

What hurt RG3 is the fact that in that 2012 playoff game versus Seattle when they were ahead 14-0 Robert was out there limping around on a sprained knee but instead of taking him out of the game like any normal coach would have done Shanahan kept RG3 out there and late in the game Robert dropped back and planted his foot and all of a sudden that sprained knee turned into a torn ACL and PCL. So instead of being out a few weeks with only a sprained knee and having the rest of the offseason to get better Robert had reconstructive knee surgery and spent the entire offseason in rehab. To make matters worse Robert pushed himself too hard and Shanahan started him the first game of the next season although RG3 didn't play a single snap during the preseason so of course Robert struggled because he wasn't ready to return. Late that season once Robert started getting healthy Shanahan benched Robert the final 3 or 4 games of that season for no damn reason at all. Romain he was already too hurt to be standing up, let alone playing NFL playoff football. They pimped him out until he literally broke right in front of us. Damn shame.

jojo Seoul I'd say to that RGIII always understates his injuries. Remember the concussion saga in 2015?
@josiah90397 жыл бұрын
Romain true. But many players do the same, lots of people in football are "tough guys". He wasn't really helping himself, but the Redskins organization completely mismanaged RGIII as a talent. That much is undeniable. It was their job to keep him safe and that just did not happen.

Huh? Mike put him in the best position to succeed and now he’s out of the league because he wanted so bad to be something he’s not. Mike could only go against the owner for so long so his firing was inevitable. Rg3 is extremely talented but his ego broke him

RGIII helped build the Clemson program into the machine that they are today. Nobody really mentions it, but when RGIII finally whipped the Oklahoma defense for Baylor’s first win ever over the Sooners, Bob Stoops made the historic decision that he needed help on the defensive staff. So Bob turned to his brother Mike, who had just been fired in Tucson, for defensive help in Norman. Brent Venables didn’t like it, so he bolted to Clemson. The rest is history as Brent V is now probably the best DC in the nation.

I still think he can make a team next year. Somehow he overcomes the mental aspect and goes back to what brought him to the dance RG3 could still be a useful QB to have in this league.
@royalace22717 жыл бұрын
I don't know why so many idiots keep blaming Mike for RG3 but its really RG3 who is to blamed. RG3 wanted to play and insisted he could play. Despite his knee injury, RG3 was determined he could play in that playoff game. Its not like Mike forced him to play because they didn't. RG3 wanted to play and the Redskins trusted RG3 decision so its on RG3.

Kirk was drafted in the 4th round, not 2nd round. 1st and 2nd round drafted guys are meant to be starters, while 4th round and below are usually meant for developmental projects and normally wouldn't last long in the league. Kirk just made the best of his opportunity.

Watching this 18 months later, and hindsight being 20/20, Shanahan doesn't come off as bad, but still, how many wrongs does it take to make a right? Still, glad RG3 made it back into the league, even if as a backup who only took a few snaps. He's still just 28 years old.

One season ending injury DOES NOT ruin one's career. This is a fact! 1. Peyton Manning was out with a broken neck, had surgery and could not even throw a football. He came back the next 3 years better than ever 2. Carson Palmer suffered an ACL tear in the playoff against the Bengals, yet, he still managed to come back and have a very good career 3. Tom Brady suffered an ACL tear in '08. He came back and won two more SBs. 4. Because of the Colts' mess of a team, Andrew Luck is out for the season after a series of shoulder surgeries. I guarantee he will come back better than ever 5. Deshaun Watson suffered a freak incident and torn his ACL, he will probably hae an MVP like season when he comes back next season. 6. Aaron Rodgers has had multiple season ending shoulder injuries, and he will still be Aaron Rodgers when he comes back next year. 7. Average Joe Flacco suffered an ACL. He came back from it and is still....average Joe. 8. Matt Stafford suffered two season ending shoulder injuries, and he is still the Lions' franchise QB. 9. Romo and McNabb both suffered season ending injuries, and both still manage to have a very good NFL career. RG3 torn his ACL, and OMFG, it is his coaches fault that his career is over! Hate to break it to ya RG-turds, but he was just another over hyped prospect and was never really made for the NFL.

If only RG3 been patient and kept doing the 50 series zone read and learned the drop back mechanic later he would still be a starter with the Redskins and Mike Shanahan would probably still be the coach and the 'Skins would be a playoff caliber team. I've been telling my boys this for years that RGIII will have a short career if he continues to play Read Option & not develop into a drop back passer so I agree with everything Shanahan said. For Griffin to refuse to change is asinine. But not sure why the panel seemed so assured that RGIII would be forever out of football when at only 28 still had the goods to be a serviceable backup, which ended up happening just 5 months later w/the Ravens.
