The difference between 29, 11, and 8 and 32, 10, and 10 is actually enormous. If it wasn't, you'd have seen dozens of players try and succeed in averaging a triple double. Russell should win the MVP.

@elainesmyname
@elainesmyname 7 жыл бұрын
he just means harden was treated unfairly dude, his numbers last year were 29 6 7 actually....but since his team was so mediocre and in 8th he still didn't make any all nba teams..so he's just arguing why now that the thunder are just in 6th but westbrook is automatically mvp. i get it.. with his triple doubles and everything but i think that was shannons point
@Saylin021
@Saylin021 7 жыл бұрын
Idk, if Harden's numbers were far beyond anyone else, then he shouldve won, I find myself valuing what they do for their team, whos around them, and their stats more than their seeding. Also, WB's numbers are a bit different than Hardens last year. I dont think its automatic, but I certainly dont think anyone else should win it.
@elainesmyname
@elainesmyname 7 жыл бұрын
well it's automatic to everyone else so...and I wasn't comparing westbrooks and hardens numbers last year at all though...but if you value stats, then westbrook was 23 7 10.. a tiny bit different than hardens but comparable... westbrook was first team all nba, 3rd seed with 55 wins...james harden 29 6 7 and not a single all nba team because his team was 8th.. im just saying, i think that was shannons point thats all hahaha goodbye!!

Shannon how are you getting facts wrong when you have piles of stats sitting in front of you on your desk? Houston was 8th last year, not 6th so stop pretending like Houston last year was in the same spot as OKC this year. And, OKC has not lost to the Nuggets this year, but even if they had, every guy in the MVP race has lost to a bad team this year at some point, it's the NBA, it happens. Please stop pointlessly hating on Russell and just give him some respect and some credit for once.

I'm with Shannon. I love the intensity that Westbrook brings to the game, but let's face it: The guy's a stat padder. Yeah he averages 31 ppg, but he's shooting 42% from the field. Yeah he averages 10.7 rebounds, but his teammates are purposely moving out the way. You really mean to tell me that with as many bigs as there are on OKC, the 6'3 guard is moving from the top of the key and getting all these rebounds? Come on man. Only thing I respect is his passing game. Meanwhile, James Harden is averaging 29 on 44% shooting, 8 rebounds, and 11 assists. He could easily do the same thing if his teammates let him get the rebounds. And people say Harden has a better team. No he doesn't. If they weren't winning, everyone outside of Patrick Beverley, Lou Will, and probably Eric Gordon are no-names. Meanwhile, Westbrook got Oladipo, Kanter, Adams, Taj Gibson, some good players. The Rockets look good because they're flourishing in D'Antoni's system. Eddie House tried to use that fact to undermine Harden's level of play, but the system only works with very talented guards. And we know Harden is the truth because he led the Rockets to 2nd in the West under McHale the year he got *snubbed* for the MVP. And to top it off, winning matters. Houston's 3rd, OKC's 6th. Take Harden off the team, they won't even make playoffs. Harden for MVP.

Tavoris Myles Jeremy Lin is a talented guard though. Just because "Linsanity" was a short-lived thing, doesn't mean he's trash. And Anderson and Capella really don't have a name. Yeah there's an MIP and first rounder respectively, but who doesn't know Adams, or Enes Kanter, or Taj Gibson? These guys warrant big contracts. The Rockets you've mentioned are only this season making strides. Nene has a name, I'll give you that.

Ethan D. the more superstars there are on a team the worse they look as individuals, not team, so durant joining golden state hinders steph as an individual a bit the same way he did to westbrook... if you are the only good player on your team you are obviously going to score the majority of points and all other stats... westbrook is just stat padding this year because the rest of his team is not good therefore hes the only one scoring. Harden has brought his team from 8th in the league last year to 3rd and a franchise record this year along with his teamates getting better because of his leadership. has russ done that? no. just saying it is obvious look at the facts russ is literally just stat padding. Imagine a nba star playing with a high school team... the nba player is going to have insane stats. its all relative nobody understands that harden is definitely mvp

I don't think it makes him look bad at all. He's actually going to be competing for a championship. This season was no surprise with Westbrook. Anytime Durant wasn't playing back in Oklahoma he was putting up triple doubles just as he is now. I can't take anything away from this incredible season Westbrook is having but Durant is way more efficient. Let someone like Durant/Curry shoot the ball 30-40 times a game and I bet they'd be putting up way better numbers. Westbrook is a spectacular athlete but his decision making/shot selection is questionable.

Everyone knew Russell have MVP quality in him, just no one thought it be averaging a Trip-Doub. I predicted him to win it this year, so did a lot others. However, with or without KD, KD knew he cant win a ring with Russ. Kobe is my favourite player, but he is exactly like Kobe. Great player, who no one wants to play with him cause his selfishness holds the team back, despite the 10 assist. He is stat padding, but getting that many triple doubles is still amazing. Maybe its just me, but Russ can have the MVP, what does it mean anyway? There is no bragging right to it, its just MVP not the best player award, everyone knows there are at least 3 to 5 players ahead of Russ (LBJ, Kawhi and KD), difference is that while Russ is chasing a MVP, the other guys like KD are chasing a Championship.

2011 - Rose got MVP over Lebron because his team had the best record in the NBA. 2013 - Lebron wins MVP over KD because his team had the best record in the NBA. 2014 - KD got MVP over Lebron because his team had a better record (2nd best in the NBA). 2015 - Curry got MVP over Harden because his team had the best record in the NBA. 2016 - Curry is unanimous MVP partly because of his team's historic 73-9 record. 2017 - Suddenly record doesn't matter anymore. Let's give MVP to the best player on a 6-seed team because he stat-chased his way to averaging a triple-double. Forget the facts that he 1) doesn't play defense, 2) shoots only 42%, 3) shattered the previous record for turnovers in a season, and 4) the big men on his team helped inflate his rebound numbers so he could average a triple-double. The MVP award has become too storyline oriented.

If his assists went down to 9.9 at the end of the year, everyone would throw the discussion out the window. Triple double or not Harden is the MVP. Seeding has always been rewarded, but the media is shoving Westbrook and Oscar down our throats so I won't be surprised if he wins it anyway

LORD KEITH so if seeding matters in the MVP then: why not just take the top 2 seeded teams of each conference and have their top players be MVP candidates since it's all about the "wins" in the MVP talk, that would excuse Harden out of the equation.

He has just MADE HISTORY by tying the record for most triple doubles ever since The Big O in the 1960s, and he still has 4 games left so he could SET THE RECORD! Not only, he has been one of the clutchest if not one of the most clutch players in the league. Just last night, he drained two threes under the last minute to ice the game, while coming off a back to back, and let's not forget he single handed lay led his team to victories against the Mavs and Magic last week. And the comment above just proves more why he is in fact great. You could argue Harden for MVP, but saying what Westbrook is doing is not that great is crazy talk smh

Harden will win the voters are smart enough to see past Westbrook's cherry picked triple double when it comes to rebounds for lack of a better term. Also all the voters will have Harden at least in their top 2 I don't think they all will have Westbrook in their top 2. Remember it's about total MVP points. Also the NBA are not allowing NBA team broadcasters to vote anymore and I think they would have favored Russell.
