What is Acho talking about?! The Seahawks only missed the playoffs twice in Russ’s whole career (2017 and 2021). In 2017, their FK, Blair Walsh, torpedoed a would-be 13-3 record by missing 4 in-range, game-winning FGAs. I’ve always wondered if he was paid off, but I digress. The 2017 season was arguably Russ’s finest, and he had ZERO run game and accounted for 90% of the Seahawks’ offense, including all but one TD. In 2018, Russ dragged the Seahawks to the playoffs while again putting together one of his most productive and efficient years (throw-for-throw nearly matching MVP Mahomes, btw), with a lead receiver who was so badly injured that he had to retire after the season. The Seahawks finished 10-6, traveled to Dallas for the wildcard, and lost because Pete Carroll kept running the ball against a stout Dallas D-Line that had their number all might, and despite Russ and the passing game firing on all cylinders. That game led to fans calling “Let Russ Cook.” It made everybody in Seattle sick, and it was the beginning of the end of Russ tolerating Pete Carroll’s ineptitude. In 2019 Russ was the MVP favorite until about week-10. He put the team in the playoffs and Pete Carroll blew a playoff fans vs. the 49ers on bad clock management. In 2020, the Seahawks won the division title while Russ set personal highs in yards and TDs! In 2021, Russ was injured (healthy for only 9 games of that season but appeared in 14) and still nearly put the team in the playoffs! 2015: 10-6 (Team injured, Lynch retired) 2016: 10-5-1 Playoffs (Russ injured) 2017: 9-7 (13-3 if not for Blair Walsh!) 2018: 10-6 Playoffs 2019: 11-5 Playoffs 2020: 12-4* Division Title, Playoffs Russ threw more yards and TDs during that period than he did during the three years he had an intact LoB (2012-2015), and he averaged 11 wins per season without them. *Russ’s Stats* 2015: 4,024 Yds, 34 TDs, 8 INTs, 68.1% Complete, 110.1 Passer Rating. Half the LoB was injured, and Marshawn Lynch had (fake) retired to force his way out of Seattle a year later. The LoB was never the same after the previous season’s loss to the Patriots in SB49. RB Thomas Rawls out for the season. Russ set an almost unrivaled record for passing over a 7-week period. 2015 record: 10-6, Playoffs, Lost divisional round to Carolina after beating Minnesota. 2016: 4,219 Yds, 21 TDs, 11 INTs, 64.7% Complete, 92.6 Passer Rating. Russ severely injured but played through it. Earl Thomas out for season. 2016 record: 10-5-1, Playoffs 2017: 3,983 Yds, 34 TDs, 11 INTs, 61.3% Complete, 95.4 Passer Rating. Broke Tim Brady’s single season record for individual offense, accounting for 90% of the Seahawks offensive be production, including all but one TD. Keep in mind that in only including passing TDs in these stats listings. 2017 record: 9-7, Missed Playoffs because of Blair Walsh, who missed 4 in-range game-winning FGAs. The Seahawks should’ve finished 13-3 that year and would’ve done it either way a shell of the D called the LoB. 2018: 3,448 Yds, 35 TDs, 7 INTs, 65.6% Complete, 110.9 Passer Rating. From 2017 to 2021, Russ was the league’s top overall passer, setting numerous season and career efficiency records and breaking several streaks and career volume records held by greats like Montana, Rodgers, Manning, and Unitas. He also remained a top rusher. At what point do coaches get twos accountable? The Seahawks’ playoff losses weren’t Russ’s fault, they were Pete Carroll’s, and he should’ve been fired years before he was. I would’ve fired him after SB49!

As a 49er fan, hindsight is 20/20. And seeing how the season has gone so far. It felt doomed from the start. too many distractions with Aiyuk and Williams contracts, Pearsall gets shot, McCaffery missing the first half of the season, all the injuries over the course of the season, lack luster performance on the field. It just steamrolled to the point it wouldn't stop.

That's not a common situation for ANY team in ANY sport, even if you go over a five-year span. The biggest issue this year was the way the office handled the off-season. DC was a terrible pick. Special teams have been an issue that has never been addressed under Kyle. Contract issues are becoming too common with this team. Kyle needs to focus on the team as a whole and not just the offense. The lines are both sides of the ball has been an issue with little depth. Kyle is a great offense coach but he needs to be a head coach.

huge 9ers fan. the main issue is team depth. several "stars" but when they go down, we are so thin. in addition, kyle has said several times he will not spend on the OL but rather rely on the "stars" that score. no "stars" plus average OL equal defeat in the nfl.

I think Shady is partially right about complacency, but the other part is the Trey Lance and CMC trades. Its another reason they are one of the oldest teams in the league. They have not been able to get cheap blue chip talent to replace some of these old expensive players. In the last 3 years, my Eagles were able to draft Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Nolan Smith, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean. (Also guys like Sydney Brown, Jaylx Hunt, Kelee Ringo, and Moro Ojomo that dont start, but play). All cheap defensive players that we have on controlled cost for 4-5 years....and it enabled them to build the #1 defense, and be the youngest defense in the league.

He will only resolve the issue if they win a playoff game, which I think will be hard, I don’t care if you score 44 on the bengals, when the week before you close in Cleveland and the week before the game was low scoring and they were saved by Justin tuckers misses. This offense is inconsistent, the cook bad defenses and can’t score or terrible in the red zone against the okay to goods ones and I don’t see how they can win multiple playoff games because every defense is good except maybe the ravens and they are getting better. There is nobody to blame except the NFL for giving the 49ers one if the toughest schedules to play in. And of course all the injuries that have happened to the team both on offense and defense. And alot of tragedy of the field starting with the shooting of one of there top receivers. So this year has been a curse to the team so if they were all healthy on the field playing at full strength they would be just fine. Hopefully next year they can all be healthy and be ready to reclaim there greatness.

One thing for certain. The Niners front office can't trade for future first round picks like that they did with the Trey Lance debacle. If Brock Purdy gets an extension, John and Kyle better fix the OL and address them in the draft. No excuses.
