The worst hit ever on a QB was on Cam Newton against the Denver Broncos, the next season game after their superbowl run, the strong safety torpedo himself directly at Cam’s head and hit him with full impact, he grabbed his head with both hands and stayed in the game although suffering an obvious concussion. And nothing was really done but a fine if I remember correctly, if that would’ve been Tom Brady to get hit like that, the defensive player probably suspended for 3-6 games. In my opinion, It’s when Denver had the number 1 Defense in the NFL for a few seasons and they were sending a message to Cam who they just beat in SB, but they never attempted to hit Tom Brady in the same fashion, whom they would meet in AFC Championship games. Cam Newton and North Carolina were never the same after that hit. It was the time when there was a huge difference on the hits a large Black quarterback in Cam would receive and the defenses were not penalized accordingly like when they hit other QB’s.

It was one of the dirtiest hits in NFL history... He was over 5 yards away when the slide started. Azeez didn't lower his body to project at Trevor until after the slide started. THEN he uses his brace as a weapon. Do I think he wanted to specifically concuss Trevor? Prob not, but he definitely knew the slide was happening and still went in to hurt the player. Definition of dirty.

The real question you should ask is why is he leading with his forearm? he’s leading with his forearm because he didn’t want a head on head collision because the league would’ve called it. 🤷🏾♂️ Trevor was getting greedy and was trying to get the first down , and the defender was trying to stop him

Leading with the forearm is clear signal of intent to hit with unnecessary force. Football is violent, but players don't have to go max on every play. Punishment deserved, I hope he learns. On the flip side--QBs can't play foxy and fake slides and runs out of bounds. If they want the protection, they also need to abide by the rules.
@THE_BEAR_JEW14 сағат бұрын
I agree but Lawrence didn't fake slide here. It was about as normal as a slide can look.
@Uneek63714 сағат бұрын
You lead with your forearm in order not to hit with the helmet. There have been plenty of penalties where a player leads with a shoulder and gets a helmet to helmet call. The slide was late. He wanted the first down.
@giovan521914 сағат бұрын
@Uneek637 Yeahh, nah bro. You don't lead with your forearms while looking at the qb, mind you, to not hurt him. It's clear as day this dude launched himself downward to hit Lawrence.

@@giovan5219 than he should of slid early and not worried about the first down and closing the gap with the defender like he did. It was open field. He had time to slid safely. He chose the first down.
@justified00413 сағат бұрын
You can't say players don't have to go max out on every play. If that's the case, why didn't Trevor slide before the 1st down to avoid the hit. Maybe he didn't need to lead with the forearm, but it's easy to dissect this play after the fact. In real time, with both of them barreling at each other full speed, this stuff happens quickly. James is right that once guys start overthinking things on the field, in the moment, is when mistakes happen, and you risk injuring yourself. Guys lead with the forearm or shoulder all the time, but angles change fast in football. That doesn't necessarily mean it was dirty.

I live in and love Jacksonville. Love jaguars. I agree that hit was over the line. Not as much as some say.. just my opinion. He should have gotten suspended and for about that amount of time. The team should have responded like they did. He did apologize. I can't dismiss that. It is football though. Funny thing Trevor has yet to complain. He is a real Baller. I believe. I believe. Just me going off of what I have seen. If Trevor had it to do all over again he would have dove helmet first, shoulder pads squared towards the first down marker. . Just saying he will be just fine. Physically and mentally. Thats my Quarterback man

If you watch the play dude use his forearm to hit, as well as the HIT causing Law to hit the turf hard too. Mistake #1: never ever apologize for a dirty hit on an opposing player. Own it and wear it as a badge of honor Mistake #2: never ever voice your support or embrace that player and the dirty play in the open but instead do it behind closed doors and in private.

It wasn’t a “late hit on Caleb”… he wasn’t fined, he wasn’t flagged for a late hit. Demeco Ryans in a press conference said he submitted that play to the league (probably because the Chicago Bears sideline reacted, kicked, and swarmed him…) it was found not late. Demeco said he submitted it because he wanted to make sure that there wasn’t any grey areas when coaching. Before this Azeez has never been suspended or ejected. Probably should do you research Chase 😉😘
