Chris Haynes reports that LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook all had a phone call during the first weekend of Summer League to make sure all three of the Los Angeles Lakers stars would be on the same page while trying to win a championship. Westbrook’s future with the Lakers is still up in the air, and the report added that Russ has never requested a trade from the Lakers. This report is coming on the heels of Russ and his agent parting ways. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe talk the future of Lakers big 3.

The other players’ commitment aren’t in question. AD missed 70% of games. LeBron missed 40% of games. Russ played 78/82 games and was somehow expected to pick up the slack for lebron and AD. Those 3 players are the leaders of the team and cannot read each other’s minds. Therefore they come together and vocalize expectations for themselves and each other to make sure they are all on the same page.

Another thing I wish they a stop doing is bringing up the Nets. The Nets has a competitive team right now. If they can get KD on board which it’s starting to seem like he doesn’t have a choice at this point then they easily finishes at top or 2nd in their division and they can battle for the Eastern conference title. The problem with the Lakers is they got old. Older players wear down and get injured more often and they can be exhausted at the end of the season. The only way to fix old is to get younger players. I think part of the reason the Lakers won in 2020 was because of the shorter season that also had COVID related breaks in it.

Laker fan here and I say it won’t work. LeBron and Russ are just too incompatible. LBJ needs a PG who can shoot effectively cause he’s always gonna want to handle. Russ forces things and you can’t force chemistry. If this was 5/6 years ago I think it’d still be a bad fit but it would have worked cause they’d overwhelm most teams with their physicality and athletic ability but LeBron can’t play 40mins a game fast at age 38. Russ can still go but he’s undersized and at this point predictable. Never say never cause they’ll make the playoffs if all them stay healthy but that’s about it. Can’t favor them against the warriors, clippers, suns, e.t.c

This season K-Nunn will be healthy, no more Bazemore, Ariza & Deandre minutes, Reaves will improve, they'll have Stanley & Gabriel for the full season who are athletic defensive minded wings, coach Ham will be respected more and will implement a tough minded system, they brought in young athletic players via FA so they won't have the same problems as last year. Also the big 3 played only 21 games last season but let's be real...the Lakers go as far as AD takes them.

Jeanie/Lakers not doing two firsts in 27/29 when getting rid of year 15 Westbrook with 47 mill alone would take one 1st and trading for expiring year 12 Kyrie (3-4 years younger) would take 1 first is just dumb. As Pacers fan I want those unprotected bc they’re valuable in 2027/29 if they’re bad and as assets in general, but Lakers with LeBron AD Kyrie are legit title contender (health permitting like all teams/players). Lakers play to win Championships and to have stars. The odds of those 27/29 picks being anywhere close to LeBron AD Kyrie level HOF is slim to none so go for it! You can always trade AD or LeBron later to get back a ton of picks!
