But, I have a different opinion about Wamuyu. As a last born, she might not have reached maturity for marriage, a husband was not availed (we are told of 9 men), she may have chosen not to marry, or her parents (Gikuyu & Mumbi) were now aged and needed a helper in their old age. Other stories of origin tell us we arrived from the Congo basin as a Bantus group. This could be true because Kinyarwanda has some relations with the Agikuyu (like counting) - suggesting and supporting the common origin and migration theory.

Story of migration from Congo was invented by the British. Other sources show migration through Ethiopia and this actually supported by recent DNA technology that shows Middle east link.

@@jamesgitahikahuro2443 Both you and Wanyoike are right. The Gikuyu as of the 16 - 1800s was a mix of migrating bantus from Congo and Ethiopia. There are a number of names that are common between Agikuyu, the Lubas of Congo, some bantu groups in Cameroon, Gabon, Angola and South Africa. We also have very many linguistic similarities between ourselves and the Tswanas and Sothos of Southern Africa. I think what people often forget is that the bantu migration happened in waves over a period of time, and not just one big movement. Ethiopia and Congo served as the 2 major scatter points for all of us bantus. The theory right now is that the ones who came from Congo were pushed (back) into East Africa when the Trans Atlantic slave slave trade began in Congo-Angola in the 1400s, and the ones who came from Ethiopia were pushed here by a combination of some Cushitic peoples like the Oromos, and the some Europeans who had invaded the Auxumite empire, which contributed to its downfall. The other thing that we all forget (or don't know) is that, in rejecting the fact that some of us are from Congo, we need to be aware that even those Congo bantus (all bantus, actually) used to be in Egypt and different parts of North East Africa (Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, etc). If you talk to Congo and Angola bantus who know their oral history well, they'll tell you that they too were in the Nile Valley. But like I said, we populated East, Central and Southern Africa in waves, which is why there's a lot debate as to whether we're from Congo or Ethiopia. However, what is a total lie is the idea that bantus migrated from West Africa. Hapo sasa ndio maongo ya wazungu imezidi kabisa!! That West Africa hypothesis was created in order to separate bantus from our thousands-year long history in the Middle East and North East Africa.
