Does this only apply if you're talking about 2 different years (Dec/Jan) or do you need to account this way during a normal fiscal year?

Good question. Monthly reporting is relevant in most companies, thus, this matters even within the same fiscal year

Hi, silly question: For the unbilled revenue, if there are also expenses incurred for the services they have provided, they (e.g. cost of sales) should be recorded in December 2023, right?

The cost should get recorded in the same period as the revenue (matching principal)
