I'm an accountant. When all can be automate, most small company wont need accountant. This is the big difference. Yes, big company still need accountant, but less people. Yes, some accountant will be at software company. Some also will shift to be freelance. Auditor also will need less person. The accountant profession still needed, but at less person. Perhaps the accounting institution will release or revise new accounting standard every year, just so the accountant and software company have a job to do..

So in plain english what I am able to understand, is that Skilling would say the value of his company was of what it was projected to be, which is bad, because in reality you are valued at less. So the lie didn't uphold itself for long and because the company had less than they valued it, so things crumbled.

Hi Bill, thank you for making this video. I have been following your channel for over 2 years now. I have a career question for you. I am CPA Articling Student at a mid size public accounting firm in Canada and I joined in January 2024. My firm mostly does Municipal Audits and NPO Reviews and tried working on these but didn't enjoy it so I switched to tax pool and have been working on preparing compilation, FS, Corp Tax and personal tax returns. As per my firm's new policy one can only work in tax or audit and they have assigned me to the tax group. I want to become a corporate controller in future. What steps would you suggest I should take to reach that level. Should I continue to work on tax engagement at my firm till I get my CPA licence while also learning things like pay to procure and other functions and once I get my CPA then switch to a senior accountant role in private industry and then move up from there or take some other route. If you could please guide me through this question it would mean a lot to me. During to the immigration purposes I would have to work with my employer same employer and in the tax group for about 1 to 2 more years. Thank you

I’m starting my studies in accounting soon… would you recommend getting my undergrad and going to work for experience before finishing a masters and CPA … or would you recommend pushing all the way through to a masters/CPA and then start working? I’m fortunately in a position that I can finish my undergrad/graduate/CPA in one push but I’m afraid I’ll be turned away from the entry level positions I’ll need to get some experience.

In the Middle East, 5 years are not enough to be an accounting or audit manager, at least 8 to 10 years with ACCA and you will be making 110k annual salary only (average)😅

The Zoom read AI does this and does a pretty good job at taking notes, creating actions by person, and summarizing the meeting.

I suggest someone reviews the AI generated notes and make tweaks as needed.

I've found tremendous success in accounting with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology, with Summa Cum Laude designation. After leaving a higher education union position, I started in public accounting as a payroll clerk. Never had a formal accounting class at that time. Then transitioned to a tax accountant role under CPA's. I've been fortunate enough to perform full cycle bookkeeping. Which led to an accounting manager position. Most of my experience has been real world and hands-on. Coupled with numerous professional development and CPE courses. Would @TheFinancialController even entertain my resume without a Bachelor's degree but with more than 15 years progressive experience in accounting roles? Genuinely curious 🧐 Sometimes degrees are only worth the paper printed on.

I have a question, in the example you showed that the retained earnings is a plug in while doing the consolidation and when you consolidated the financials for the year 2020 you showed that retained earnings came to $3100 and you explained the increase of $300 is the difference between the retained earnings of subsidiary company which is $1800-$1500. Keeping that in mind in the year 2019 there was no retained earnings for the subsidiary for 2018 so the difference should be $1500 which means this entire $1500 is included in the retained earnings of the parent company in 2019 in the amount of $2200? I need more clarification about the Retained Earnings part as to why it is not added and it is a plug in?

@@TheFinancialController That RH.... they will say anything to get someone to work them. The reality is every different than that, I worked at big4 in Northeast so its HCOL. Senior 2-3 are 100-105 range. Managers DO NOT make anywhere near 150k... you are just misleading people with these numbers/ In addition, you stated auditor manager makes 180k.... that is just crazy to throw out these numbers without doing any research. 180k is moire like SM that has has 10 Years under his belt.... managers top around 125-145k range. I would highly suggest you do more research and have disclaimers in your videos to not mislead people

hahahahahah what auditor manager makes 180k ahahahahahah this is sooo funny man Most big4 audit managers make 120-130k

In some of my early education for accounting, which has been self taught until I am accepted to grad school for it (career transition) if I have a question related to something like "okay where would this be recorded?" I try it on my own first, and check with AI and if I am wrong I have it explain why.

Hi bill, i go to college part time trying to obtain my degree over a stretched period of time, around 5 years or so, while maintaining a junior accounting job in a private company. I was wondering if after getting my bachelor’s degree it would be better to work in public accounting or will the 5-6 year experience in private accounting suffice to get me to my destination fast enough. Note that my goal is to become controller of a more or less large company.
@TheFinancialController8 күн бұрын
Public accounting is still the faster path to Controller, but with that experience, it may not be a requirement. Important thing is get your CPA, and move (even companies if you have to) to progressively higher responsibilities roles. I made a jump every 2-3 years to achieve this progressive approach for example.
