These digging for Britain docs are my favorite thing right now. So interesting.

A very interesting collection of programs on my favourite subject, archaeology. Some absolutely wonderful discoveries and some surprising ones too. Also, it was very refreshing to see that a Housing Developer gave the archaeologists more time. Extra brownie points for them!

Don't know why it wasn't mentioned (because all other finds seem to mention how they were found), but the Staffordshire Hoard Gold artefacts were discovered by Metal Detecting and not archeology.

40:24 Elite warriors? Lots of wealth? 42:44 Gold from Europe and garnet from India reminds me of the Indo-European source for modern English. What well known culture of warrior kings originated from a land between Europe and India? Hint: One of the documented patriarchs was named Jacob. This culture still remains.

19:50 Placing disparate beast parts together does not necessarily mean some religious ritual. That would be entirely speculative. One possibility is that the practice may have been some primitive form of entertainment. Imagine the village gathered around a fire, while some comedian would be putting animal parts together to get a laugh. Who knows what they were really thinking?

I love history but it concerns me that people are removed from their place of rest. It seems so disrespectful. Are they reburied in another cemetery 🪦?

So the guy who found all those coins, are they his? Or does the govt keep the money that some random ass dude buried 1000 years ago and another random ass dude found today? Greedy govt bastards.

I love the look of American bbq, but tbh I prefer meat that is just cooked seasoned salt and pepper - maybe a Chinese rub. The I prefer to add a sauce when eating. Maybe i haven’t eaten the correct bbq - but for me more natural, but then American style with rubs & glazes and certainly seems all American bbq is never cooked that simply. Would you ever do simpler cooked food, traditional hog roast springs to mind.

I was surprised to learn that she is an atheist. As a historian, she is ignoring major religious events that actually shaped British and world history, and ties these events to political and cultural events for thousands of years.
