I’m in Connecticut I’m trying to get unemployment I quit because of a huge wage gap that after being there 26 years they were giving other employees the same and over what I was making and only being there a shorter period and a cashier at 17 years old making $1.50 less than myself after 26 years

Can I apply if my boss (I work at a daycare) told me to show her my phone cause I was talking to the manager and she wanted to see my messages and told me I was texting during business hours and I needed to show her my phone no exceptions, I told her no and she’s like you have to and I was like then I quit and I left my job.

This is a tough call, but I would apply nonetheless. In my opinion, you would have a better case if fired, so be prepared for denial based on no good cause to quit. You would argue that you did not want to agree to an illegal search of your cell phone and had no choice but to quit.

am i able to quit due to lack of childcare... and still being required to work in person during this COVID era im in NYC btw

Would you consider not going back to the city you were in before 2020, because you were homeless and you would have been homeless during the pandemic?

My company is relocating and it will be too far for me to commute. Will this be a “good cause” ?

We can only say what the law allows and generally the answer is yes, this is good cause. However, DETR/ESD does not always follow the law and each referee is different. You should document with your employer your problem by sending a letter if you do quit.
