Àdam you brought back very sweet memories to me with this video, thanks bro! Eagle lake was my favorite spot for many years when I was in Calgary. I was wading and it was very fun and productive. Just was wondering, have you ever caught any burbot or perch there?
@AdamBuley5 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's definitely unreal fishing at this lake. I've never caught any burbot or perch, have you managed to catch any of those species from this lake?
@kamarte5 жыл бұрын
I did not catch any burbot or perch myself. I always used lures and am not sure if burbot can be caught that way. Since you were using smelts was curious to know. Man it was a great place! sometimes I used to go there 2-3 times a week..... late in the Spring and early Summer, used to go there after work till past 11 pm, as long as there was enough lights.... being wading in those thick weedy waters that late and dark and alone was something forever... If you have not used topwater lures yet, try it this summer... Pikes love them and its thrilling to see them explode specially after sunset... Tight line !

Are you just letting the lure sink to bottom and let it bounce there for a while till you get a bite then spoon back?
@AdamBuley Жыл бұрын
Yes pretty much. I have tried to cast a jig head a few feet from the kayak then slowly twitch/jig it back towards me and that works too. But if I jig right next to my boat they also bite, and I tend to prefer this so I don’t get caught on any weeds.

Great video! I’m used to fishing the bow, mind if I ask what lures you used on this lake?
@AdamBuley5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I use an assortment of size 9 suspending rapala jerkbaits. I personally find shiny colored lures produce the most fish at this lake. You can see the lure I was using in one of the clips (2:17). If lures don't work, red&white spoons should do the trick. And finally if all else fails, bring out a jig and put a minnow on; never fails to do the trick. Best of luck!

I've never seen someone be this honest and helpful specially with comment replies, thanks and keep it up. I'm in Calgary and interested in trout fishing, do you have and suggestion about where to go and what to use? Thanks
@AdamBuley5 жыл бұрын
arvin aria Haven’t fished at too many places for trout but the two places that produced the most fish for me were of course the Bow River and Blood indian reservoir by Hanna. Last summer I’ve been meaning to make a video on the bow river but I never ended up getting to it. My go to spots are Policeman flats or anywhere south of the city. (Fish Creek and under Glenmore bridge I’ve had success at) I use size 7 Brown trout color countdowns and I always fish in deep rapids! Might just be me but I almost never catch anything out of the Bow River in slow moving water. Rapids are your best bet. I don’t fly fish so I can’t give you any advice there. Blood Indian is a bit of a drive but they stock that body of water with thousands of trout every year multiple times in the summer. I used to catch 15+ a day but the last time I went I only caught 2 small brown trout and 2 carp (invasive species of carp, forgot the name). Hopefully this helps! Thanks for the kind comment and best of luck!!
