Very interesting product (first heard) and addition to our model 'atmosphere'. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks 007. You 'heard' it here first! I was thinking to play some 50's radio and commercials. But it might be too distracting. Op. sessions are hectic and focused :-S

I'd like to withdraw my earlier objection to this device. I wrongly assumed it was installed in a freight car and would be making noise all the time. This is a really well done installation video. And the bit with the lift gate felt a bit matrix-like for a second. 10 of 10. 3 thumbs up!

Great to hear the video was usefull. No worries on the confusion. I thought you were thinking that. @soundtraxx have a specific decoder for cars.
@frankhellman6879 Жыл бұрын
Pretty neat device! the fact that it can detect speed is a real step forward. It would be neat to have a sensor at each end of a curve with the speaker in the middle (though costly). Wheel squeal is one of those sounds that's very directional. I always thought putting a small sound decoder in a couple box cars with speakers would be the solution. But there is the problem of timing it to go on only in curves as well as detect speed. I guess we'll leave that to the electronics wizards.
@DubaiTrains Жыл бұрын
I think it is a matter of layering sounds. So all of the above! Of you think about it, a lot of sounds are locational only. Clickity clack and squeals are caused locally by track variables. Sounds like refers running and brake squeal are on the move.

just for info: youtube decided to remove my subscription to your channel... I was missing your videos, so I've searched dubai trains manually and re-subscribed... :\ Looking at the bright side, now I have six months of video to watch!

Thanks for the heads up Emanuele. And for re-subscribing.

I would love to have that instead of having to program decoders and those decoder addresses so this is an interesting.

Hi. Excellent video. Very simple install but where is the best place to put the speakers ? Under layout or inside building or ?? Thanks
@DubaiTrains10 ай бұрын
Thanks. I ended up placing the speaker on top of the layout, facing towards the engineer.

Been waiting for this video since you announced it 😊 I like the squeals for themselves, but just popping up in general silence seems unnatural to me. I think it should be embedded in a broader acoustic concept like eg. engine sound and other background noises. Just my 50 ct.
@DubaiTrains Жыл бұрын
I think that the layout in general can use more sounds. However it will be a balance between city noise and emersion. In an op session there are several engines running with sound. The steamers are relatively quite when standing still, bit those old diesels are always rambling. I find the sound space (?) is actually already quite full. Turning on e.g. a radio in the background is already too much. If i have time left over, I was thinking to make a 1 hour loop with sounds like I made here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaKafGWcpK2Lj5Ysi=5b5JG5WQa-XsISeK

@@DubaiTrains Yes, I love the diorama video, too. I suppose the optimum level of sound is highly variable. Depending on persons in the room, the type of operation you're doing, and the mood you're in. For example my son cannot stand the engine sound. I also tend to switch it off for a more relaxing session. Other days I want engine and background sound to beam myself into the layout.

And then there is the third operating mode with music in the background 😂. But good point, the setup needs to be variable.

An interesting device, but for me the Tsunami SoundCar is still better, it gives more options.
@DubaiTrains Жыл бұрын
I think they are complementary to each other. One makes sounds coming from the train and the other from the track.
@andrewbergman9315 Жыл бұрын
wrong approach, sound decoders should have a motion sensor to tell if there is a sideways force eg turning and trigger the locos own flange squeal effect.
@DubaiTrains Жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, that sounds like a good approach. But until someone manufactures that I'm happy with the squueler.
@andrewbergman9315 Жыл бұрын
@@DubaiTrains I dread the cost and complexity of having this on a large layout
@DubaiTrains Жыл бұрын
I don't think it is intended to be in every curve. So just a few would be sufficient. I find the price reasonable for a quality electronic. It won't effect the price per sq ft of layout much. Just check the prices of a fully interlocked set of turnouts with accompanying signals. That will drive up the cost per sq ft!
@andrewbergman9315 Жыл бұрын
@@DubaiTrains where these noises would be made the most would be traversing across points, so if you covered those then it will certainly get expensive.
